In the process, students strengthen their verbal and written communication, research, and critical thinking skills; learn to make ethical decisions and conduct themselves with personal and professional integrity; and acquire the tools to lead projects, launch ideas, and exceed business objectives.

Through this highly focused concentration on top of a traditional business curriculum, students learn to:

  • Develop solutions to workplace challenges using ethics, relevant research, and an understanding of the organization’s environment;
  • Apply analytical tools and skills commonly used within organizations;
  • Interpret key business theories and practices and integrate them into human resources disciplines;
  • Attract, train, develop, compensate, and motivate a team of staff members;
  • build benefits packages with the purpose of improving organizational efficiency; and
  • Carry out all key human resources responsibilities, including recruiting, interviewing, and compensating workers and complying with labor laws and best practices.

HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT CONCENTRATION COURSES

Building upon 40 credit hours of traditional business coursework, the fifteen (15) credit hours of Human Resource Management Core courses cover personnel retention, benefits management, and organizational streamlining in greater depth:

This course goes over offering and structuring learning opportunities within an organization, with the goal of improving individual and team effectiveness.

Coursework takes a comprehensive approach to developing employee retention strategies, covering how to attract, compensate, and motivate both workers and executives.

This class examines employee benefits packages from a secondary angle—specifically, how they relate to improving performance and keeping staff on board.

As few organizations can afford to ignore diversity in the 21st century, this course explores strategies for diversifying a workforce based on racial and ethnic groups, sex and gender, religion, work, family, appearance, mental ability, and sexual orientation.

Course topics offer an overview of human resource management strategies in relation to recruiting, interviewing, and compensating employees; job analysis, wage and salary administration; training; and labor laws and relations within the context of organizational planning.
