ONLINE BBA IN HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT CURRICULUM

Students interested in the Human Resource Management extended major must complete a minimum of

120

credit hours of general education, all requirements for the major, and 39 upper division credit hours. Many courses fulfill more than one requirement so most majors can be completed within the 120 credit hour minimum.

Students may be able fulfill their general education or elective class requirements by transferring previously earned undergraduate credits or applying Prior Learning credits gained through job or military training. In these cases, students may be able to complete this online degree in Human Resource Management in as few as 21 months.

Because many undergraduate business students aim long term to earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA), MVNU offers the option of earning dual-graduate credit. As one way to partially complete the degree’s upper division coursework, students meeting certain GPA requirements may take up to six (6) credits of 6000-level business classes.

HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT CONCENTRATION COURSES

Building upon 40 credit hours of traditional business coursework, the fifteen (15) credit hours of Human Resource Management Core courses cover personnel retention, benefits management, and organizational streamlining in greater depth:

This course goes over offering and structuring learning opportunities within an organization, with the goal of improving individual and team effectiveness.

Coursework takes a comprehensive approach to developing employee retention strategies, covering how to attract, compensate, and motivate both workers and executives.

This class examines employee benefits packages from a secondary angle—specifically, how they relate to improving performance and keeping staff on board.

As few organizations can afford to ignore diversity in the 21st century, this course explores strategies for diversifying a workforce based on racial and ethnic groups, sex and gender, religion, work, family, appearance, mental ability, and sexual orientation.

Course topics offer an overview of human resource management strategies in relation to recruiting, interviewing, and compensating employees; job analysis, wage and salary administration; training; and labor laws and relations within the context of organizational planning.
