MVNU has made standardized test scores optional for incoming undergraduate students for the 2020 and 2021 academic years. The change in requirements is a direct response to the struggles faced by high school students as standardized testing centers were canceled in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
WHAT’S NEW AT MVNU
The MVNU Engineering program opened its new home in downtown Mount Vernon in Fall 2018. The space houses the university’s Engineering program and a community makerspace, in partnership with Knox Labs Inc.
MVNU launched its new Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences in fall of 2018. The program is designed to provide new routes for graduates to be involved in healthcare-related services, outside of direct hands-on patient care.
The Hunter Hall Clinic for Communication Sciences and Disorders provides clinical experience in speech and language therapy for students early in their academic career.
- Women’s lacrosse is set to begin in the 2021-22 season.
- Phase 1 of the MVNU Soccer and Lacrosse Stadium was completed in 2019 including the turf field, lights, fencing and the scoreboard.
- Men’s volleyball began in 2019 as a club sport.
- MVNU’s esports program began in 2019. MVNU is one of five Council for Christian Colleges and Universities institutions and the only Crossroads League member with a varsity program.
Through MVNU’s dual enrollment and CCP courses, high school students can start earning general education college credits now. These highly transferable credits provide high schoolers a real head start on their college careers.
