With a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences major, the opportunities are endless. The BSHS program at MVNU is designed for the individual who desires a career in a healthcare-related service area. For a student still determining the healthcare field they want to pursue, MVNU’s interdisciplinary major provides diverse opportunities to explore many different healthcare arenas. Students planning to pursue a particular healthcare profession requiring graduate school can gain a solid foundation for their graduate program and complete pre-requisite coursework required for graduate school applications.

Areas of concentration for all BSHC majors include natural sciences, social sciences, health sciences, and business. Advisors work with individual students to customize remaining coursework for their major, based on healthcare areas in which they are most interested.

Health Sciences is a very versatile major, leaving majors with multiple options for additional areas of study. Students are required to complete a minor or a pre-professional health pathway, unless they choose to pursue a double major. In addition to academic scholarships, affinity grants, and need-based awards, MVNU has many endowed scholarships available for students of a wide variety of backgrounds and majors.
MVNU students with a BSHS receive preparation for careers in many areas, such as, community health worker, health informatics, health fitness, community organizations, health insurance companies, healthcare management, long-term care, and nonprofit or humanitarian organizations. They can also work in the pharmaceutical industry, medical sales, and in health care technical occupations. Additional career possibilities include patient care advocate, research associate, health educator, and environmental science.
Professional graduate programs BSHS graduates have pursued include Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, Healthcare Administration, Athletic Training, and others.
