Integrated Master of Business Administration (MBA) Bridge Program

Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s integrated Master of Business Administration (MBA) bridge program is geared toward ambitious traditional undergraduate and working adult students seeking to expand their credentials while gaining versatile management and leadership skills. Studies have shown that candidates with an MBA degree experience higher earnings in today’s increasingly competitive job market, and in turn, MVNU’s innovative format provides this advantage while reducing tuition costs and time spent in school.

All candidates start their bachelor’s degree, whether on campus or online, before applying to the 100% online MBA program. Certain MBA core courses replace upper division bachelor’s requirements, counting toward both degrees, and upon finishing all undergraduate credits, students transition to the MBA program. All undergraduate majors have the opportunity to take advantage of this integrated pathway and improve their career opportunities. Along with graduating with two indispensable degrees:

  • You’ll enhance your undergraduate area of study with advanced business skill.
  • You’ll save on tuition while giving your salary a boost.
  • You’ll be prepared for the fast-paced business world, where more and more entry-level jobs require a master’s degree.
  • You can fast-track your career by providing value to your employer from day one.
  • Your bachelor’s knowledge becomes an asset in the business world, providing a diverse, innovative perspective.

MBA Bridge Program Courses and Formats

The MBA bridge program takes two general forms based on your educational pathway:

  • Traditional undergraduate students (4+1 or 5-year MBA): Traditional undergraduate students starting on campus can complete a Bachelor of Science (BS), Bachelor of Arts (BA), or Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree and an MBA in five years of full-time study. After acceptance during your senior year, you’ll begin taking select MBA classes in place of upper-division requirements and transition toward a full-time 100% online program that can be completed in one year’s time. All traditional undergraduate majors are eligible to begin the 4+1 MBA structure.
  • Bachelor’s degree completion to MBA: Working adult students enrolled in any Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS) bachelor’s degree completion program can pursue the integrated MBA following GPS’s flexible course-by-course structure. As you are preparing to earn 90 credit hours of undergraduate coursework, you’ll apply toward the MBA bridge program through your advisor. Following acceptance, you’ll replace upper-division undergraduate courses with MBA core subjects before wrapping up your bachelor’s degree. Then, you’ll apply to the fully online MBA program to continue with your coursework.

Courses fulfilling MBA and undergraduate requirements include:

  • Managerial Economics
  • Organizational Behavior
  • Global Business
  • Ethical Leadership
  • Legal Issues in Management
  • Marketing Management

In the process, this 4+1 format provides traditional and working adult students with a foundation in quantitative analysis, global business practices, marketing management, economics, and organizational dynamics that sets them up for success in a program emphasizing:

  • Functional business areas, including accounting, finance, marketing, management, and economics.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • The use of data analysis to form business decisions and solve organization issue.
  • Ethics and social responsibility in strategy and decision making.
  • The use of technology in business.
  • The importance of strong team leadership and interpersonal skills.

After proceeding through the MBA’s core courses, students develop a specialization by selecting one of the following concentration areas:

Careers with a BA, BS, or BBA and MBA

As a graduate from an integrated 4+1 MBA program, you’re in a unique position: you possess the knowledge of your major, the higher-level functional business competencies of an MBA, and specialized skills of your selected concentration.

In the current marketplace, all career paths benefit from advanced business skills, especially if you’re eyeing a management position down the road. At the same time, the business world is becoming less insular, with different viewpoints and skill sets sought out beyond the typical profile. Whichever direction you choose, the Bureau of Labor Statistics found that 5% more management occupations will be created between 2019 and 2029, with opportunities including:

  • Administrative Services Managers
  • Advertising, Promotions, and Marketing Managers
  • Architectural and Engineering Managers
  • Compensation and Benefits Managers
  • Financial Managers
  • Human Resources Managers
  • Public Relations and Fundraising Managers
  • Sales Managers
  • Social and Community Service Managers
  • Training and Development Managers

Of all fields, business sees the highest number of individuals earning a master’s degree—and candidates with this credential often experience a wage premium, particularly in securities, commodities, and financial services.

Financial Aid & Program Costs

MBA Program Tuition

The six credits of MBA courses substituting upper-division coursework will be billed as undergraduate-level classes in terms of tuition. After a student completes all undergraduate requirements, the tuition shifts to the online MBA’s per-credit, course-by-course structure for the last 30 credits:

Cost Per Credit Credit Hours Required Total Tuition
$498 30 $14,940

Please note that tuition does not include the cost of textbooks. Payment is due no later than the first night of each course.

TUITION GUARANTEE

MVNU strives to make higher education accessible to all who seek to broaden their knowledge and advance their skills.
