MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — SonFest, Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s annual outdoor Christian music festival, will take place on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 1–9 p.m. in the Grove at the MVNU campus. Building 429 will headline the event with numerous other bands on two stages throughout the day.

Five years after their debut album, Building 429 earned the Gospel Music Association Dove Award for New Artist of the Year in 2005 and went on to grow their presence in the Christian music scene. In 2013 the band received a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album in “We Won’t Be Shaken.” Their latest album “Unashamed” is set to release Sept. 25, 2016.
New Zealand’s Rapture Ruckus is also showcasing hits from their five albums, including 2015’s “Invader.” Rapture Ruckus has been nominated for a Dove Award for Best Rap/Hip Hop Album for 2010’s “Rapture Ruckus.”
Ticket prices include: General admission in advance, $20; general admission at the gate, $25; groups of 10+ in advance, $15; and VIP tickets, $40. VIP admission includes festival laminate, T-shirt, prime seating, and artist meet-and-greet opportunities. VIP ticket holders also get early entrance to the event starting at 11 a.m. VIP tickets are available online only.
The all-day event will also include free outdoor activities, food trucks, and giveaways. SonFest is held rain or shine. Artists and schedule are subject to change.

Anyone wishing to participate in the games and activities at SonFest must submit a signed waiver. If you are under 18, your parents must sign the waiver. If your parents are not at SonFest, they must sign it before you leave. Your youth pastor or supervisor cannot sign it for them.
