WNZR’s Lifeline 2021 coming soon

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — WNZR 90.9 FM, a broadcast ministry of Mount Vernon Nazarene University, is preparing for Lifeline 2021, March 24-29. The annual fundraising effort is an opportunity for listeners to pledge their support to WNZR.

This year’s goal is $65,000, and the theme is “Keep Me In The Moment,” based on the song from Jeremy Camp. The theme verses for Lifeline 2021 are Ephesians 5:15-16, as they express how WNZR wants to keep its ministry focused on living wisely and making the most of every opportunity.

“I am really excited about Lifeline 2021 and our theme “Keep Me In The Moment,” said Marcy Rinehart, WNZR Station Manager and co-host of The Morning Thing. “This song from Jeremy Camp describes the challenge that we have of staying in the present, and being prepared for the lessons and blessings that God has for us right now, today. It is so easy to keep looking back, reliving the struggles of the past. It is just as easy to focus on the future, while we miss what God is trying to teach us right now. Our mission at WNZR is to be a Lifeline to our listeners today, right now in this moment. We want to provide hope and encouragement in the music we play. We want to share steps to strengthen relationships in the programs and messages that we share. Most importantly, we want to lead our listeners to a deeper relationship with Christ.”

“We are so thankful for the support we’ve received in these last 10-12 months, despite the disruption of the pandemic,” said Joe Rinehart, MVNU’s Director of Broadcasting and co-host of WNZR’s Afternoon Drive. “This crisis has helped us stay focused on what we’re all about - broadcasting an uplifting message that encourages listeners and families on a daily basis. Your gift allows us to continue that effort. Your partnership is also an investment in our students to develop their communication skills and discover purpose in their lives.”

“Keep Me In The Moment” is a reminder to cherish everything that I have been given,” explained Grant Hauger, a Junior Communication and Media (Digital Media) major from Danville, Ohio. “Even though these are trying times, we can still celebrate and praise every moment with which we have been blessed.”

“During the pandemic, I have been having massive anxiety about the future,” shared Senior Graphic Design major Wes McClellan of Kettering, Ohio. “But God has been teaching me a lot about taking things day to day, enjoying the moments we tangibly experience as they arrive instead of losing sleep over what is yet to come. That is what “Keep Me In The Moment” means to me.”

Wednesday, March 24, is WNZR’s annual “Day of Prayer and Praise.” From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., the staff will focus on how God has provided for WNZR over the past 34 years. Listeners are encouraged to call the station at 740-392-9090 throughout the day to share personal testimonies, prayer requests and praise reports.

Lifeline 2021 appreciation gifts will be given for donations at designated levels. Everyone making a donation will receive a Lifeline 2021 refrigerator magnet. Donors giving $10 per month will receive a WNZR journal. The official Lifeline 2021 T-shirt will be given for gifts of $25 per month. A deluxe camping chair will be given for donations of $50 per month.

Special challenges are scheduled during Lifeline 2021:
