President Spaulding outlines expectations for Fall 2021

President Henry W. Spaulding II, Ph.D., addressed the MVNU Community Thursday, April 22, 2021, to outline the expectations for Fall semester returning to a near normal college experience.

Dear MVNU Community,

By any calculation, 2020-2021 has been difficult. I appreciate your resilience, willingness to adapt, care for one another, and exhibited energy. Shine Forth is more than a slogan around here because you have persisted. You have demonstrated your love for MVNU and one another at every stage. Thank you!

I want our returning and prospective students to know that we intend to lose the masks in fall 2021, but understand that directives from the Ohio Department of Health or Knox Public Health may not allow this practice.

Here is Our Plan

  • The Dining Commons will most likely operate at full capacity with vigilant sanitation protocols.
  • Housing will continue to operate at normal capacity.
  • We expect to deliver fall classes in-person with accommodations for students who have serious health concerns where it is possible.
  • Athletic events will be at normal capacity.
  • While we will observe all advice from Knox Public Health, we are confident that MVNU will return to near-normal operations.

Although it is not required, COVID vaccination is encouraged. Increased vaccinations and continued saliva screenings should allow us to be the MVNU so many have longed for this year.

We intend to operate safely into the future as hopeful and responsible members of this community.

With Appreciation,
Henry W. Spaulding II, Ph.D.
President
