MVNU’s Donnelly ‘Still Chasing Faroe’

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — Mount Vernon Nazarene University art professor John Donnelly was recently accepted into the OH+5, 2018 Ohio Border 11th Biennial Exhibition juried competition consisting of artists from six states. Donnelly’s artwork “Still Chasing Faroe,” an installation of 300 paintings and drawings, is on display until March 17.

He was also selected to receive a juror’s cash award. The exhibition is at The Dairy Barn Art Center Gallery, Athens, Ohio.

Donnelly recently exhibited his large-scale Faroe Islands paintings at Shremshock Architect Gallery in New Albany, Ohio. His paintings will be on display now through Spring 2018.

In January, The Woodward Opera House in Mount Vernon, Ohio, invited the MVNU Art and Design Department to paint the Black Box Theatre. Donnelly and Justin Sorensen, assistant professor of art at MVNU, organized the splatter painting at the request of Pat Crow, director of the restoration of the Woodward Opera House. Three art students, Lauren Forney, Liberty Lutes, and Leah Shaffer helped as well.

MVNU congratulates Donnelly on his accomplishments and is grateful for his continued professionalism and service to the university.
