MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (February 13, 2023) — Talented musicians and vocal performers will be featured during Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s music scholarship recipient’s recital on Feb. 21.

The concert will feature several instrumental and vocal performances and will include a variety of musical styles.

The public is invited to attend this free event beginning at 7:30 p.m., in the Thorne Performance Hall in the R.R. Hodges Chapel. A reception will follow.

Performances will include:

Judy Bennett (flute) is a junior Music Education major from Huntington, Indiana. She studies flute with Mrs. Jennifer Packard and voice with Mrs. Rhonda Rom. She participates in Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Goliards Chamber Choir, and Music Stage Production.

Justin Brown (alto sax) is a senior General Music major from Urbana, Ohio. He studies saxophone with Mrs. Adrienne Lape and participates in Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Collegians Chorale.

Logan Davis (voice) is a sophomore Music Performance major from Castalia, Ohio. He studies voice with Mrs. Carrie Vail and participates in Goliards Chamber Choir and Music Stage Production.

Aidan Hamilton (piano) is a freshman Worship Arts major from Circleville, Ohio. He studies piano with Dr. JoAnn Koh-Baker and participates in Collegians Chorale.

Emma Keyse (percussion) is a sophomore General Music major from Newark, Ohio. She studies percussion with Dr. Cary Dachtyl and participates in Symphonic Wind Ensemble.

Jacob Lafevor (trombone) is a senior Music Education major from Midland, Michigan. He studies trombone with Mr. Ian Elick and guitar with Mr. Andrew Clarkson. He participates in Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, and Goliards Chamber Choir.

Genesis Mena-Cruz (voice) is a senior Worship Arts major from Middletown, Ohio. She studies voice with Mrs. Vail and participates in Chapel Worship Team.

Joel Pettit (voice) is a sophomore General Music major from North Vernon, Indiana. He studies voice with Mrs. Rom and participates in Collegians Chorale and Goliards Chamber Choir.

Brianna Rider (violin) is a freshman Speech-Pathology and Audiology/Business major and music minor from Sugarcreek, Ohio. She studies violin with Dr. Juan Carlos Ortega and participates in String Ensemble and the Knox County Symphony.

Abigail Snyder (piano) is a junior Graphic Design major and music minor from Poland, Ohio. She studies piano with Dr. Koh-Baker and participates in Treble Singers Women’s Choir and Chapel Worship Team.

Juliana Sullivan (voice) is a senior General Music major from Delaware, Ohio. She studies voice with Mrs. Vail and participates in Treble Singers Women’s Choir and Goliards Chamber Choir.

Caleb Syler (trumpet) is a senior Engineering major from Loudonville, Ohio. He studies trumpet with Dr. John Packard and participates in Symphonic Wind Ensemble.

Megan Vollrath (voice) is a senior Exercise Science major from Marysville, Ohio. She studies voice with Mrs. Vail and participates in Collegians Chorale and Goliards Chamber Choir and Chapel Worship Team.

Jonathan Winningham (alto sax) is a senior Accounting major from Newark, Ohio. He studies saxophone with Mrs. Lape and participates in Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band.
