Instrumental ensembles to perform Oct. 23
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – The Music Department at Mount Vernon Nazarene University will present a fall instrumental ensembles concert on Saturday, Oct. 23, at 1 p.m. in the R.R. Hodges Chapel/Auditorium. The community is invited to attend this free event. Due to campus guidelines, masks will be required.
The concert will feature the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Flute Choir, Jazz Band, and Percussion Ensemble. The Jazz Band will be playing Big Band Classics made famous by Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, and more. The Symphonic Wind Ensemble will present various concert works including “Yosemite Autumn” by Mark Camphouse, “Pastime: A Salute to Baseball” by Jack Stamp, and “Instant Concert” by Harold Walters, which highlights melodies from 30 famous classic works. The Flute Choir and Percussion Ensemble will also offer several additional selections during the evening’s performance.
Ensemble directors are Dr. John Packard, Dr. Isaac Winland, Dr. Cary Dachtyl and Jennifer Packard.
