Adkins takes lead of MVNU undergraduate admissions
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — Mount Vernon Nazarene University President Dr. Henry W. Spaulding II, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jennifer Adkins to the position of Director of Admissions, effective May 1, 2021.
Adkins moves into the position after more than two years serving as the Director of Dual Enrollment. She began her career at MVNU in 2016 as a financial aid advisor and also has experience as an enrollment specialist for the School of Graduate and Professional Studies.
“In this new take on the Director of Admissions role, Jen will be overseeing all of our on-campus admission efforts including our data, applications, and CRM offices, our visits and events office, and admissions events. Jen’s drive, interpersonal skills, and commitment to excellence will make her highly effective in this role,” said Justin Nowicki, Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management.
In her new role, she will assist in the implementation of the annual recruitment plan, develop and execute innovative student communications strategies, direct recruitment events, provide oversight to the dual enrollment/College Credit Plus program, and work closely with campus partners and University stakeholders to maintain solid enrollment growth.
“My professional experience at MVNU has given me exposure to student financial services, recruitment, partnership development, and data analysis and management — all relevant to my new role,” said Adkins. “The role of director of dual enrollment provided me with the opportunity to develop a better understanding of the enrollment cycle and cultivate valuable working relationships with partner schools, program stakeholders, and various campus departments. I worked hard to maintain the success of the program and to expand MVNU’s reach through dual enrollment options.”
The new director of admissions holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (’17) as well a Master’s in Business Administration (’19), both from MVNU. She understands and values the role the entire campus plays in the recruitment process.
“I recently heard someone say, ‘It takes a university to recruit a student.’ This statement is so incredibly true,” Adkins said. “Every department on campus plays a crucial role in recruitment. Here at MVNU we all do an amazing job of pulling together to offer an A+ experience for prospective students. The Admissions staff will always be filled with gratitude for the campus-wide support we receive toward this effort.”
Nowicki, who will work closely with Adkins, believes her experience with MVNU as a student, recruiter and financial aid officer positions her to move the university’s admissions office toward more efficient practices that remain ahead of the curve for higher education.
“I know that Jen’s leadership will help the admissions office take a leap forward. I have great confidence in her and I am personally excited to see how our improved processes will impact the next generation of MVNU students,” said Nowicki.
