WNZR's Lifeline 2018 is here
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — WNZR 90.9 FM, a broadcast ministry of Mount Vernon Nazarene University, is preparing for Lifeline 2018. This annual fundraising effort is an opportunity for listeners to pledge their support to WNZR.
This year's goal is $62,000, and the theme is Fix Our Eyes, based on the song ‘”My Eyes” from for King & Country. The theme verse for Lifeline 2018 is 2 Corinthians 4:18. Over these last few months, the WNZR staff has been moved and challenged by this song and this verse.
“The lyrics of our theme song ‘Fix My Eyes’ are a powerful reminder to focus our attention on others and continuously look for ways to show love and compassion,” said Marcy Rinehart, WNZR Station Manager and co-host of The Morning Thing. “We are committed as a staff to fix our eyes on showing the love of God to our community through our music, programming and service to our listeners.”
Lifeline 2018 will start on Wednesday, March 21 and run through Saturday, March 24 with a wrap-up day on Monday, March 26. "Our desire for WNZR's broadcast ministry is to extend a vision that began 31 years ago," said Joe Rinehart, MVNU's Director of Broadcasting and co-host of WNZR's Afternoon Drive. "We hope to broadcast an uplifting message that encourages listeners and families on a daily basis. Your gift allows us to continue that effort. Your partnership is also an investment in our students to develop their communication skills while discovering purpose in their lives."
“WNZR has had a huge impact on my education and my life,” said Abby Fairless, sophomore communication studies major from Canton, OH. “I love getting to work with such a great group of people spreading the love of God to an amazing community. I’m so blessed to have this opportunity to learn and gain real, hands-on experience that I can apply to my future career.”
Regarding the theme of Lifeline 2018, Hunter Sutyak, freshman journalism and media production major from Newark, OH, said, “Fixing our eyes is more than just a theme; it’s a lifestyle. We should be looking to God on a daily basis for His divine will in our lives. It’s an everyday decision that influences our every action, word, and thought.”
Eddie Dilts, a junior journalism and media production major from Gahanna adds, “Fix Our Eyes is a shift in focus from the concerns of now to our eternal purpose. We are not ignoring the now, but realizing that what is truly important, lies in the eternal - our God who sent His only Son to die for us.”
Wednesday, March 21, is WNZR's annual "Day of Prayer and Praise." From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., the staff will focus on how God has provided for WNZR over the past 31 years. Listeners are encouraged to call the station throughout the day to share personal testimonies, prayer requests and praise reports. Fundraising for Lifeline 2018 begins on March 22, continues through March 26, and will emphasize WNZR's growth through listener support.
Lifeline 2018 appreciation gifts will be given for donations at designated levels. Everyone making a donation will receive a Lifeline 2018 refrigerator magnet. Donors giving $10 per month will receive a pair of official Lifeline 2018 sunglasses featuring the Fix Our Eyes theme. The official Lifeline 2018 T-shirt will be given for gifts of $25 per month.
