In light of dramatic changes in the workforce as a result of an ongoing pandemic, the need for increased skills in any career field continues to grow. As companies are eliminating and consolidating positions, current employees will have to increase their workload and use underdeveloped skills. Upskilling has proved to be beneficial to both the individual and the company or organization, reducing costs and improving efficiency.
The World Economic Forum determined that 54 percent of employees will need substantial upskilling in their current position. The workforce is constantly evolving as well as the need for continued education. That being said, 63 percent of companies are not prepared to aid in the upskilling of employees. *
When employers contribute to the cost of learning a new skill or trade, employees are far more likely to take advantage of the opportunity. Developing an educational partnership will reap countless benefits and should be considered by any company asking for more from current employees.
