Online Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Human and Social Services Leadership

Human and Social Services Leadership is one of nine MBA concentrations offered by MVNU.

The Human and Social Services Leadership MBA concentration is ideal for students who seek a leadership role in a nonprofit, governmental, or social service program. Students gain the skills and knowledge needed to effectively lead a human or social services agency. The program places emphasis on interdisciplinary concepts including secondary trauma; program planning, development, and evaluation; information systems and security; fiscal management and evaluation, including grant writing; and organizational development to social service organizations.

This MBA concentration provides students with practitioner and leadership skills in non-therapeutic, direct services to drive social change. Position yourself for success in human services with an MBA in Human and Social Services Leadership.

* Most students complete our programs within 19 months. However, we offer a Fast-Track MBA option that allows highly motivated students to earn their degrees in just 11 to 15 months. By taking two courses at once, you can earn your MBA quicker and dive into meaningful careers sooner.

HSSL 6003

Grant writing, Management and Reporting

This course explores the grant application process, the basics of proposal writing, grant implementation and reporting strategies. Students will learn the process of how to research funding sources, understand requests for proposals (RFP), how to develop a logic model, write a grant proposal, needs statement, budget, and program description.

HSSL 6023

Evidence Based Practice and Program Evaluation

Learn how to select the best EBP's available using published research, evidence based databases and registries. Evaluate the implementation of interventions on an individual client level to ensure that the treatments and services have the most effective outcomes. Four basic types of program evaluation (impact evaluation, performance evaluations, process evaluation, and cost evaluations) will be covered throughout this course.

HSSL 6033

Advanced Topics in Human and Social Services Leadership

The course examines the management of a multi-generational and diverse workforce, effective communication skills in an interdisciplinary team, employee corrective actions and performance appraisals, secondary trauma support as a retention tool, benefits of emotional intelligence training in self-regulation and reflection, and the principles and methodology of managing information security.

Curriculum stats/highlights

MBA students selecting to concentrate in Accounting must complete nine (9) required MBA core courses in addition to the three (3) concentration-specific courses. The MBA in Accounting requires a total of 36 credits.

*The remaining 9 credit hours are taken in the student’s chosen concentration. All MBA courses are 100% online.
