Online Master of Arts in Education—Professional Educator’s License

MVNU’s Online Master of Arts in Education—Professional Educator’s License program allows candidates to earn a master’s degree with a four-year Resident Educator License from the comfort and convenience of their home. The program is facilitated by highly skilled faculty members with years of experience as educators and administrators. With the flexibility and convenience of 100% online coursework and the benefit of hands-on classroom field experience, the MA in Education program is ideal for busy, ambitious adults.

The Online Master’s in Education—Professional Educator’s License program includes both intensive coursework and two field experiences (75 clock hours each) with student interaction, including development and delivery of lessons. This includes the following

In the first field experience, student teachers observe and interact with students—as well as plan and teach three lessons—while gaining experience in a specific subject or area. In the second field experience, student teachers continue to build their skills by observing and interacting with students (including the planning and teaching of lessons) in an urban district with a diverse student population.

A 12-week student teaching assignment follows the completion of field experience and coursework.

PROFESSIONAL EDUCATOR LICENSURE

Upon completion of the MA in Education degree, students have an additional three years to apply for their teaching license. After three years, additional coursework and/or other conditions may be required for licensure.

Additional costs include:

  • BCII/FBI background checks ($50-$60)
  • Ohio Educator Assessments ($115-$139 per exam)
  • Membership in a professional education organization ($25-$100)
  • Ohio teaching license application ($160 for 4-year, Resident Educator’s license)

A Graduation Fee of $100 is charged to all students, regardless of degree type, when the Registrar's Office receives their Intent to Graduate Form.

TUITION GUARANTEE

Once a student enrolls in the Online MA in Education, their tuition is locked in for the duration of their enrollment—that’s our tuition guarantee. Course-by-course payments are due by or before the first evening the class is held.
