Accounting is one of nine extensive MBA concentrations offered by MVNU.

MBA students selecting to concentrate in Accounting must complete nine (9) required MBA core courses in addition to the three (3) concentration-specific courses. The MBA in Accounting requires a total of 36 credits.

ACCOUNTING CONCENTRATION COURSES

The remaining nine (9) credit hours required in the MBA program are taken in the Accounting concentration and are all fully online. Students pursuing the Accounting MBA concentration examine the nuances of the accounting field, touching on topics such as fraud, internal control, and ethics in accounting.

This class covers the study and application of the functions of independent auditors, professional ethics, legal liability, internal control, auditing standards, and auditing procedures.

This class examines fraud in business with an emphasis on the manipulation of accounting records as well as embezzlement. It entails case studies on how to uncover and prevent malfeasance in both profit and nonprofit companies.

In this course, students focus on core values of the accounting profession such as ethical reasoning, integrity, objectivity, and independence. Topics include economics, price and consumer behavior, business and accounting issues, ethics and information technology, and professional standards.
