Online Master
of Ministry (MMin)
Degree

Our fully online Master of Ministry degree program equips students with the education, skills, and training necessary for serving in Christian ministry. The program combines practical application with academic study for a well-rounded, pragmatic education. The program is designed to meet the needs of those currently in ministry, pursuing ministry, or exploring bi-vocational ministry. It can be completed in as little as 11 months (19 months average) and is offered entirely online for the convenience of busy, working adults.

At Mount Vernon Nazarene University, we are proud to offer high-quality, affordable, and flexible degree programs. In addition to a competitive tuition rate, MVNU is also extending a $5,000 scholarship (awarded as $500 per class) to be applied to the total cost of the program to all new students!

Use MMin credits to also earn MDiv

A partnership between MVNU and Nazarene Theological Seminary will allow students to complete Master of Ministry (MMin) and Master of Divinity (MDiv) degrees with coursework that meets requirements for both programs, saving both time and money.

The Association of Theological Schools, a national accrediting body, allows students who finish graduate programs to transfer appropriate credit hours toward their next degree program. By identifying candidates prior to degree completion, MVNU can help students transfer 27 of the 30 hours of their MMin coursework toward the 76 hours required for NTS’s MDiv program.

MVNU and NTS will work collaboratively to ensure coursework meets proper requirements and is transferable between both institutions. In addition, faculty mentors will help MVNU students transition easily to their MDiv program at NTS. Students will have the benefit of learning from Biblical, theological, and pastoral scholars on their field and nationally.

Curriculum stats/highlights

Students in the Online Master of Ministry degree program examine the infrastructure of the Christian ministry and explore and develop their faith with the following goals in mind:

Understand the biblical, theological, and historical foundations for the practice of ministry.

Apply these classical disciplines to pastoral ministry tasks and other forms of service.

Enhance skills for the practice of ministry in leadership, communication, pastoral care, counseling, and education.

Strengthen the art of proclamation, including interpretation of scripture, application to human need, and communication for evangelism, Christian nurture, and moral challenge.

Identify the purpose and goals of ministry and develop the disciplines of planning, implementing, and assessing progress toward those goals.

The major in the Master of Ministry degree is Practical Theology. Credits earned in this program can be transferred to graduate programs at other universities, including the Master of Divinity program offered by Nazarene Theological Seminary (NTS.)
