At MVNU, our Online Master of Arts in Education—Professional Educator's License program is designed for working adults looking to transition into teaching. Our curriculum is built to help facilitate mid-life career changes by deepening students' understanding of educational theory, leadership and ethics, instructional design, and more.

Our Professional Educator's License Master of Arts program is facilitated by highly skilled faculty members with years of experience as educators and administrators. Authentic Teaching Experiences

In addition to intensive coursework, you'll also complete two 75-clock hour field experiences as a student teacher. During the first field experience, you'll observe classes, interact with students, teach three of your own lessons, and perform other tasks. During the second field experience, you'll continue to teach and observe, gaining valuable real-world experience in a diverse classroom environment. After the field experiences and coursework are complete, students embark on a 12-week student teaching assignment. This is where you'll be able to develop your teaching style, explore different methods for delivering lessons, and make meaningful connections with students and staff.

Becoming a Licensed Teacher in Ohio

After earning a master's degree in education online at MVNU, students have three years to apply for a four-year Resident Educator License through the Ohio Department of Education. Beyond the three-year mark, additional coursework and/or conditions may be required to apply for licensure. Once students earn a Resident Educator License, they're able to work in their desired content area and grade level. Available license areas offered by MVNU include:

Our Tuition Guarantee

We guarantee that students are locked into their tuition rate from the time they enroll until graduation, even if the university adjusts the rate. Here is the current cost of our MA in Education program:

  • BCII/FBI background check ($50 - $60)
  • Ohio Educator Assessments ($115 - $139 per exam)
  • Ohio teaching license application ($160 for 4-year Resident Educator License)

Please Note: Course-by-course payment is due no later than the first night of each course. Fees and textbook expenses are not included in the total program cost.
