Online M.A.Ed.—Intervention Specialist Degree Program

The MVNU School of Graduate & Professional Studies is proud to offer an online M.A.Ed. degree program leading to Ohio licensure as an Intervention Specialist for Mild/Moderate Disabilities. The online Intervention Specialist program is specifically designed to meet the needs of teachers who have an interest in and commitment to serving students in grades K–12 with disabilities. This includes licensed Early Childhood Education, Middle Childhood Education, Adolescent Young Adult, or Multi-Age teachers who wish to enhance their credentials and educators serving students with disabilities on a temporary or alternative special education license who wish to gain credentials needed to improve their employment options. The program results in a Master of Arts in Education degree and Ohio licensure as an Intervention Specialist for Mild/Moderate Disabilities.

The program is offered entirely online, allowing working educators to complete their coursework in the comfort of their home. To boot, the degree program can be completed in as little as 18 months.

All courses are 100% online. The curriculum also includes 30 clock hours of clinical practice embedded in course work and a 75 clock-hour advanced practicum experience that equips candidates to effectively serve the unique population of students with mild/moderate disabilities.

Our online master’s degree courses are facilitated by qualified faculty with personal experience in assisting students with disabilities. They use a cohort-based model that supports and maximizes student learning while allowing you to create meaningful relationships in an intentionally Christian learning environment.

If you already hold a master’s degree, you can transfer up to six (6) credit hours to the M.A.Ed. program.

Master of Arts in Education degree holders have a myriad of career opportunities available to them in the K–12 school system; the addition of the Ohio licensure as an Intervention Specialist for Mild/Moderate Disabilities expands these options considerably.

POSSIBLE JOB TITLES FOR GRADUATES OF THE M.A.ED. INTERVENTION SPECIALIST DEGREE PROGRAM INCLUDE:

  • BCII/FBI background checks ($50-$60)
  • Ohio Educator Assessments ($115-$139 per exam)
  • Membership in a professional education organization ($25-$100)
  • Ohio teaching license application ($160 for 4-year, Resident Educator’s license)
  • Textbook costs are not included in the total cost of the program.

A Graduation Fee of $100 is charged to all students, regardless of degree type, when the Registrar's Office receives their Intent to Graduate Form.

TUITION GUARANTEE

MVNU’s School of Graduate & Professional Studies features a unique tuition guarantee; enrolled students’ course-by-course tuition does not increase as long as they are continuously enrolled in the program—guaranteed. Payment is made on a course-by-course basis.
