Fast-Track Accelerated Online Master of Business Administration (MBA)

At Mount Vernon Nazarene University, we designed our Fast-Track Master of Business Administration (MBA) as an accelerated 100% online program for hard-working, highly motivated adults who don’t want to wait to advance in their career or take time off to attend school full time. Modeled after our traditional MBA program, students earn the same number of credits and select a concentration while taking at least two courses at once. This accelerated MBA program can be finished in roughly one year’s time, give or take a few months, allowing graduates to achieve their education and career goals at their own pace.

MVNU structures the Fast-Track MBA around two formats:

11-month timeframe: students take two courses at the same time, from start to finish. Core and concentration courses are taken sequentially.
15-month timeframe: students take their three concentration classes while completing their core courses one at a time.

Adding to the accelerated format, MVNU schedules all MBA classes in six-week blocks.

FAST-TRACK ACCELERATED ONLINE MBA CURRICULUM

The Fast-Track MBA covers the same course content as our standard online MBA program. Over the course of

credit hours, students begin with a core curriculum (27 credit hours) and select one of nine concentrations (nine credit hours) or complete the MBA-HCA program.

If a student has already earned a graduate business degree at MVNU and is working toward a second, at least seven unique graduate business courses must be completed to fulfill the MBA’s requirements. Between the two degrees, all students must complete a minimum of 57 credit hours.

FAST-TRACK ONLINE ACCELERATED MBA COURSES

MVNU’s online MBA curriculum aims to create confident, informed leaders that effectively plan projects, achieve team goals, meet the expectations of today’s business world, and act ethically and with integrity. The core of the Fast-Track MBA degree centers around the essential areas of business, including accounting, economics, finance, management, and marketing and blends these higher-level concepts with topics related to organizational behavior, legal matters, global business, and strategy. At the same time, coursework reinforces problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills throughout.

Within the nine core courses, Ethical Leadership must be completed first, and students then wrap up this portion with Strategic Management.

FAST-TRACK MBA CONCENTRATIONS

Concentrations add specialization to the core MBA curriculum, allowing students to focus on a specific area of the business world. Students may select one of nine MBA concentrations or pursue the MBA-HCA program:

ACCOUNTING

Get an in-depth look at high-level accounting concepts while strengthening your business knowledge and leadership skills.

BUSINESS DATA ANALYTICS

Big Data is now integral to business operations. This concentration blends the technical know-how with key business concepts, with the goal of harnessing all available information to make stronger, more targeted decisions.

FINANCE

Coursework goes over concepts related to markets, investing, financial institutions, and financial planning, helping students work toward a leadership or management role at an investment bank, leading a finance department in a large corporation, or an executive position at a private firm.

HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

This concentration equips students seeking a management or executive role within a human resources department with the skills to lead others, put together training and professional development programs, and develop compensation and benefits packages.

LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT

Businesses, by default, don’t operate with smooth precision. This concentration focuses on the design and management of business structures and processes, with emphasis placed on finance, marketing, accounting, and human resources.

MARKETING MANAGEMENT

Advanced marketing courses cover data collection and developing strategies to target consumers and increase revenue, preparing you for positions in a corporate marketing department, general management, consulting, or entrepreneurship.

MINISTRY LEADERSHIP

Be the leader your church needs, in terms of spiritual guidance and financial decisions. Mixing leadership, biblical, and theological concepts, this concentration prepares students to make decisions for and achieve spiritual growth within church and parachurch organizations.

HUMAN AND SOCIAL SERVICES LEADERSHIP

ORGANIZATIONAL MANAGEMENT

Preparing students to be department and company leaders, coursework emphasizes organizational change through concepts in human resources, operations, and management.

HEALTH CARE ADMINISTRATION (MBA-HCA)

Designed for practicing clinicians and health care professionals seeking a leadership role in a hospital or assisted living center, the Health Care Administration (HCA) program takes on a slightly different format. Students complete six MBA core courses (18 credit hours) and six HCA courses (18 credit hours) covering health care–specific management, legal, administration, and leadership topics.

The Fast-Track option and completion time are dependent on the current course schedule and student availability for the selected concentration.

CAREERS WITH AN MBA

Along many paths, an MBA becomes key for getting ahead and assuming more responsibilities. Additionally, based on figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, more jobs will require this advanced credential between 2018 and 2028.

Specifically, management-related occupations are predicted to grow 7% over this period, influenced by new organizations being formed or existing companies expanding their operations.

MVNU structures all GPS programs, including the Fast-Track MBA, on a per-credit, course-by-course basis, rather than using a flat semester tuition rate. Students pay as they go along, with the tuition payment due on the first night of each class. The Fast-Track MBA’s total tuition does not include the cost of textbooks and other classroom materials.

The per-credit tuition rate stays the same during your time enrolled, provided your course of study remains free of interruptions and you make satisfactory academic progress.

FINANCIAL AID

MVNU offers our graduates several financial aid options, even if they’re opting for an accelerated track. These include scholarships, loans, grants, and tuition reimbursement.
