GIveWhy Give?

Why Give?

From the very beginning in 1968, those who started Mount Vernon Nazarene University did so with a spirit of generosity.

In the initial days of the institution, people of the church and community came together to raise $234,000 in order to purchase 234 acres of property at $1,000 per acre.  For the next several days they rallied together generously giving to see that the land on which the University now calls home was acquired. Fearful that the $209,000 they raised was not enough, they were soon informed that the actual acreage of the land was not 234 acres…but instead 209. When they were confident their gift was not enough, they soon discovered God’s gracious hand was working in the moment.

Why give to MVNU?

Giving to MVNU is carrying on the model of generosity demonstrated so many years ago. Without continued efforts and God’s unique way of working through His people, the educational offerings and exceptional campus would not be what they are today.

MVNU is a growing, thriving, Christian university that has a long and storied history. Through your sacrifice and generosity you are investing in and influencing students academic experience that builds character, increases aptitude, and prepares them for service.

People give graciously believing that God has the ability to take our limited resources and do incredible things. It is not always about how much we give, but our willingness to give generously where God can use it. Your financial partnership is a substantial part in supporting MVNU’s mission.

Thanks for being part of our story.
