Knox County Knockout
The Knox County Chamber of Commerce, MVNU Athletics and New Directions have signed a contract with Guinness Book of World Records to host "Knox County Knockout"--an attempt to break the record for the World's Largest Game of Knockout.
A goal of 1000 has been set to beat the current record of 701 participants in the largest recorded game of Knockout in the world.
The free event will be in Ariel Arena on MVNU's campus, September 1, 2018, with doors opening at 9:00 a.m. The first 200 participants through the doors will receive a free "Knockout" T-shirt.
A group picture needed for verification will be taken at 11:00 a.m., then the game will begin. Concessions will be available, and the event will be streamed live on WNZR.tv.
Paul McNeal of MVNU Athletics said, "We felt this was a great way to help us place all of Knox County on the map. We have a great county and this allows all to be part of an event which places them in a one-of-a-kind category."
MVNU Athletics sincerely appreciates the many sponsors who assisted with fliers, shirts, banners, and billboards to make this community event a success for Knox County. "Although we already have individuals, schools, and even teams from other counties inquiring to be a part, we want our county to be a major stakeholder in this event. We have such a giving community, this is one way we can have some fun, set a record, and say 'thank you,'" shared McNeal.
For those wishing to enjoy a full day of activities for the family, everyone is invited to enjoy "Dime-a-Dog Night" while watching the MVNU Men's Soccer Team take on Aquinas College at 4:00 p.m. The community is also invited to participate in the "Color for a Cause" 5K/1M Run sponsored by New Directions starting at 6:00 p.m. in Ariel-Foundation Park. Register HERE by August 30th for the run/walk.
