Faculty Voice Recital — Carrie Vail
In her program titled “A Woman’s Role: An Investigation of Feminism in Art Song,” Vail will speak about how composers and poets have seen women throughout history, how that shaped the music written for female characters, and how the characters were portrayed. The recital will feature a variety of pieces from song cycles and individual art songs chosen to demonstrate trends throughout the years. Charla Dryburgh will accompany on piano and Jennifer Packard will be featured on flute for one selection.
Vail is an adjunct faculty member for private voice, piano class, and discipleship at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. The research for this recital and the original recital performance in Spring 2020 were done for the culmination of her Master of Arts in Music Education from The University of Nebraska at Kearney.
She also teaches fitness classes in the local area and resides in Mount Vernon with her husband and two sons.
The community is invited to attend this free event. Due to campus COVID-19 protocols, face masks will be required.
