First year Beginner Level I (Thursday – 4:15)
Second year Beginner Level II (Thursday – 5:15)

This piano class utilizes the Musikgarten curriculum and is designed for elementary age children aged 6 (Grade 1) through age 11 (Grade 5). Your child will learn to play by ear and to read music. A much-loved piano repertoire of familiar songs improves his/her ability to read and play with fluency. To continue the fun at home, you will receive a listening CD and a practice CD with special tracks for practice each week. Notation games, repertoire pieces, sight-reading pieces, simple composing, and more are in your child’s comprehensive learning materials that will help your child stay excited about playing and encourage him/her to make music long after the lessons stop. Participant fee includes the cost of all materials for a full year curriculum. Class is limited to 10 participants.

Details for Fall 2022 Coming Soon

The Community Music School will host and direct the Knox Youth Choir Program beginning in September 2021. We are thrilled to inherit this wonderful program that has been in existence for students in Knox County since 1996. The purpose of this choir is to help singers learn the joy of singing, build good vocal habits and a solid foundation for musical literacy skills while forming lasting friendships. The Youth Choir consists of singers in 3rd through 8th grade and is open to all interested students in the Mount Vernon and Knox County community.
