My Nickname
I am the youngest granddaughter of eight grandchildren on my mother’s side. My oldest cousin
Jody was 15 when i was born. I was told that when I was little, Jody just adored me and as a
result my Grandpa started to call me “Buffy” after the popular television show “Family Affair.”
I had blonde hair in pig tails most of the time and a “big brother” Jody! To this day, the nickname
has stuck and during family gatherings it is not uncommon for someone to call for “Buffy.”

My Favorite Vacation
Over the years my family and I have taken countless vacations together. I’ve been to Disney
World, the Grand Canyon, the St. Louis Arch, Laura Ingalls Wilders homestead, Niagara Falls
and most of the president’s homes. Some of the best memories I have from these vacations
happened in the car, however! To keep my brother and I occupied in the backseat, my grandparents
would send a small package, like a travel game, for each day we were gone. Every morning we had
something to look forward to and keep us occupied- hopefully! Unfortunately, I still remember
my dad saying to my brother and me, “I’ll pull this car over if you two can’t behave.” I wouldn’t
trade these memories for anything and am glad I was blessed with such a wonderful family.
