Investment Options at MVNU

Endowments
Endowments are established with a minimum gift of $10,000 deposited within a five-year period. The endowments, which are based on criteria the donor establishes (generally with consultation from a Development Officer), support funding for a variety of programs. Each endowment fund is directed by a Gift Agreement, which guides MVNU administrators and staff in making wise use of the awards from the fund and ensures that the donor's wishes will be followed.
All endowments are managed under the auspices of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University Foundation Board and its professional advisors. The annual distribution policy, presently set by the Foundation Board at 4.5% of the market value from June 30th of the previous year, guarantees the corpus (original investment plus any additional gifts) remains in perpetuity so support is available far into the future.
- Scholarships (minimum support level $10,000)
Many people share MVNUs belief that limited economic means should not deprive able students of a university education. These individuals will find particular satisfaction in establishing an endowed scholarship fund. Such scholarship funds may be named for the donor, a friend or relative, or someone who has influenced his/her life. For more information on scholarships others have already funded - click here.
- MVNU Choice Scholarship Fund
The MVNU CHOICE Scholarship Fund stands for (Christians Helping Others in Christian Education). Gifts to the CHOICE fund are pooled and invested. This means you man give any sum of money and 'designate' it to go to scholarships. Your gift will be combined with other like minded friends & the earning (according to current university policy) will be distributed to qualified students selected by our scholarship committee on a annual basis.
- Chapel Programming Endowments (minimum support level $25,000)
These endowments help the Chaplain obtain the finest speakers for our Chapel program. A donor can choose to support a series of lectures such as the Griffin Missionary Conference, an annual three-day series in February where a missionary and/or his family come to share with our students about missionary service in the Church of the Nazarene. Similarly, the Hicks Holiness Lecture Series supports a speaker each year to promote holiness to our students. Opportunities exist to underwrite other Chapel programming.
- Faculty Chairs (minimum support level $1,000,000)
MVNU is currently soliciting donors to help underwrite faculty chairs. This support would allow you to honor a deserving professor, but it would also mark and honor the achievements of all those who learned from him/her.

Other endowment opportunities
Other endowments have been set up as "group" endowments or designated endowments. Theses funds are pooled together to accomplish more than a single donor could by himself or herself.
- CHOICE Scholarship (Christians Helping Others In Christian Education)
Designed for those who want to support scholarships but cannot afford to invest $10,000. Donors find this option a good way to help with scholarship support. Dollars designated for this scholarship are pooled together with like-minded gifts to make available this scholarship.
- Curriculum Improvement Funds
Intended to support new and innovative majors and curriculum.
- Faculty Development Funds
Designed to encourage and support faculty research and teaching methods.
- Scientific Instrumentation Funds
In order to keep our science programs on the cutting edge and prepare our students to enter graduate school and the workplace, this fund provides state-of-the-art equipment for our science labs and classrooms.
