Mount Vernon Nazarene University: Life Changing
Students with Concern

Students with Concern is a group on campus that does service projects and exists to raise awareness on campus and in the community about disadvantaged or minority groups. One of the events that we are very involved with is Food for the Hungry week. We do a social justice service, a homeless assimilation, and other awareness activities that week. We are also planning on doing a YMCA over-nighter with Big Brothers, Big Sisters. In this activity we use the YMCA for a night and invite MVNU students to come hang out with the children from the BBBS program. We also do other awareness activities. This club is made up of mostly social work majors, but is open to the entire campus.

Mission Statement:
"We, the members of Students With Concern at Mount Vernon Nazarene University, do hereby establish ourselves as an outreach to the campus and surrounding communities. We will uphold and implement the values and ethics set forth by the National Association of Social Workers and the National Association of Christian Social Workers. We will actively engage ourselves, our time and energy to establish positive attitudes, to raise awareness of social injustices, to advocate for others and to establish our identities as future social workers. As Jesus said, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' Matthew 25: 40."
