MVNU SIFE is one of the oldest and largest student organizations on the campus of MVNU and has been in existence for 27 years. SIFE is a student organization, which operates on over 900 campuses in the US and on over 700 campuses worldwide, and is committed to serving communities, businesses and, campuses, teaching principles of economic change. SIFE focuses on teaching the principles of business ethics, free markets in the global economy, personal financial management, and entrepreneurship. We are committed to excellence in all of our projects promoting economic change for all those we impact.

In each of our projects we focus on impacting persons to better their future lifestyle and give them more opportunity to succeed. Just like the saying, “Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime,” we want to teach and impact people to give them hope for a better tomorrow! Some of our current projects include: working with local entrepreneurs such as Dr. York, financial seminars teaching budgeting and credit card principles, the Business Ethics Conference, Job-finding Skills Seminar, Junior Achievement, Anti-piracy Awareness Event, and teaching students from the Knox County Alternative Center economics.

At the end of each school year we present all of our projects at SIFE’s Regional Competition where we are given the opportunity to showcase all of our educational outreach projects through audio-visual and written summaries to judges comprised of top business leaders who determine which teams did the best job teaching and equipping others with the tools necessary for success. MVNU’s SIFE team holds a great tradition in past competitions where we have advanced onto the SIFE National Competition in 24 of the last 27 years at one of SIFE’s 20 Regional Competitions and have had 3 top-ten finishes at the National level. National champions advance to the ultimate level of global competition, the SIFE World Cup.

The SIFE experience enables university students to reach their full potential by helping other reach theirs. Students acquire teamwork, leadership, communication, and project management skills in a unique way, not typically gained through other university programs. This total SIFE experience equips SIFE alumni to develop into successful entrepreneurs and top recruits for leading companies, large and small, such as Wal-Mart, KPMG, Walgreen’s, Verizon Wireless, Sara Lee, Aflac, The Finish Line, RadioShack, and many more.
