SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. (8-26-2011) - The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's soccer team came out on the short end of a 4-0 result as the Lady Cougars fell to NAIA No. 14 Oklahoma City University on Friday afternoon in the first day of the John Brown (Ark.) University Classic.

The Stars (1-0) needed just 2:26 to get on the scoreboard when Blerta Rashica scored the first of her three goals in the match off an assist from Meghan McMahon.

McMahon extended the lead to 2-0 in the 17th minute when she converted a penalty kick opportunity. The score would remain that way going into halftime.

In the second half, Rashica closed out her hat trick with goals in the 55th and 89th minutes respectively as Oklahoma City prevailed 4-0.

The Stars out-shot MVNU (0-1) 18-8 for the match and 10-0 on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Eleni Miller stopped six shots for the Lady Cougars, while Ashley Bechtold and Alissa Reed combined to post the shutout for the Stars.

"(Oklahoma City) is definitely deserving of their national ranking and they played well today," said MVNU coach Daniel Seiffert. "We did some positive things today and we have some things that we definitely need to work on. We don't have a lot of time to think too much because we have another tough match tomorrow."

MVNU will return to action on Saturday at 4 p.m. CST when the Lady Cougars will take on host John Brown (1-0). The Golden Eagles defeated Bethel (Tenn.) College 2-0 in Friday's other match.
