The Michelle Akers/Wittnauer 2001 NCCAA Player of the Year

Liz Malmen, a senior from Indiana Wesleyan University, has been selected as the Michelle Akers/Wittnauer 2001 NCCAA Player of the Year. Liz majors in Marketing and Finance and carries a 3.89 GPA into her final semester at IWU. According to Joe Toma, her coach at IWU, "Liz loves the Lord. She could have gone to any school but wanted to go to a Christian university so that she could grow in her walk with the Lord ..." In addition to being a team captain and a role model to her teammates, Liz has participated in mission trips and organizations on the IWU campus.

Malmen has been recognized as NCCAA Scholar-Athlete in 2000 and 2001. She also has been selected as the NCCAA All-American in 1998, 1999, and 2000. Additionally, in 1999 she was recognized as the NCCAA National Championships MVP.
