Throughout the course of the 2011 season, MVNU
sophomore midfielder Amy Weaver will write a weekly blog about what is
happening with the team. "Tournaments
and Traditions" (posted on

That's right, its tournament time and with
our first tournament game right around the
corner there is no room for slacking from
the Lady Cougars! Our season has flown by,
but we are ready to pave the way for a long
postseason. This week has been full of
excitement as we begin to savor every moment
we have left with each other.
Our
week started off on the right foot with
everyone's favorite practice of the year:
Monochromatic Day! Monochromatic day is a
tradition on our team where everyone comes
to practice dressed in one color of their
choice. This might not sound too exciting on
the surface, but it's amazing how doing
something just a little out of the ordinary
can make for such a fun practice. Coach just
loves this day, seeing as our energy levels
raise about a billion percent.

Monochromatic day seemed to be perfect
preparation for our game against Bethel on
Tuesday night. We were all psyched for a
game under the lights and Papa Coach pumped
us up even more by playing his ever popular
polka music for us on the bus ride. When
Papa Coach pulls out his polka music, you
know it's going to be a critical game, which
it was. One reason it was so critical is
because it determined whether we would have
the opportunity to host any of our
tournament games. Considering the fact that
we have such awesome fans, we really wanted
this advantage. It would also put us as
third in the conference, which we were very
satisfied with. All of these motivating
factors gave us the boost we needed and we
pulled through with a 4-1 win, which made
the 3 a.m. arrival back to school totally
worth it.
All the excitement of this
week was just the confidence booster that
our team needed. As Papa Coach would put it,
we are now ready to percolate for our game
this Saturday at 2 p.m. against Indiana
Wesleyan. Feel free to come out and support
your Lady Cougars!
