Throughout the course of the 2009 season, MVNU junior defender Denee Stentz will write a weekly blog about what is happening with the team.

"Weekend Update and Jamie Blair" (posted on September 28, 2009)

This past week was an extremely emotional week for our entire team, but mostly our upperclassmen. Wednesday night, we had our anticipated match against our former coach’s new team, Ohio Dominican University. Going into the game, we all had a little extra motivation to beat ODU, one of our biggest rivals as well as the team that "took” our former coach. Going out, we played our hearts out and we all truly left everything on the pitch. We ended up with a 1-1 tie after double overtime and what seemed to be the longest game EVER! It was such an awesome game. Saturday, we played our first away match in a while when we traveled to Walsh and came back with a 1-0 win after a bumpy match.

Also, in an attempt to try and collect more shoes for our shoe drive, we hosted a soccer clinic Sunday afternoon for kids age 5-12. Even though we only had 10 kids show up for the clinic, we all had such a great time! We really enjoyed working with the kids and had such a blast playing around with them and teaching them some basic soccer skills. We definitely plan on trying to do this again soon!

In other news, I wanted to introduce one of the girls I have grown especially close to being in the same grade as me. Jamie Blair (aka James, Jameson, Jamey Jame) is a quiet but deadly little fireball on and off the field. Going to the same high school as Jamie, we have grown so close playing together for seven years now. Although most people at some point or other think Jamie is "mute”, when you really get her to open up, she’s so much fun. I really admire Jamie’s quiet but sincere character and her friendship has helped me so much these years we have played and even now live together. On the field whether in practice or during a game, she always gives it her very best, working so hard to make herself better and ultimately help our team. I love watching Jamie play because she never gives up no matter who we’re playing against. I’m so happy Jamie decided to come to MVNU as well as to be on the soccer team because I have loved getting so much closer to her. Even though she is quiet, everyone would truly miss her and her quiet sense of humor! She’s truly a sweetheart and a great teammate and friend.
