Head Coach Steve Gregory
Steve Gregory is entering his seventh season as the head coach of the
MVNU Lady Cougars. Gregory guided the
team to a 20-12 overall record and the program's second National Christian College Athletic Association national title
in 2000-2001. For his efforts, Gregory was named the NCCAA National Coach of the Year. He has posted an
81-101 record in his six years as the Lady Cougars' head coach.
Gregory spent seven seasons as an assistant coach at MVNU - three years with the Lady Cougars and four years as the top assistant
with the men's team. During that time, Gregory played a significant role in the success of both teams. In his final year with
the women's team during the 1993-94 season, the Lady Cougars posted a school-best 23-10 mark and won the NCCAA national title.
During his four seasons with the men's program, the Cougars compiled an 82-46 overall record (.641 winning percentage) for the
best four-year mark in school history. In the 1997-98 season, the team posted a school-best 27-7 record, won its first-ever
conference title, and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NAIA Division II national tournament.
As a player, Gregory was a four-year standout on the court for the Cougars from 1987-1991. He still holds several school records
and ranks second in school history with 2,242 career points. He helped his team to the first two 20-win seasons in school history.
Besides his coaching duties, Gregory serves as the Assistant to the Athletic Director and the Assistant Sports Information
Director. He resides in Mount Vernon with his wife, Melissa, and their children, Taylor and Tyler.
