The fifth-seeded Lady Cougars finished their season on a winning note as MVNC defeated sixth-seeded Oakland City 85-69 to finish seventh at the National Christian College Athletic Association National Tournament. The Lady Cougars also finished with 20 wins for only the second time in the program's history. Senior guard Anne Nussbaum closed out her stellar career by breaking MVNC's single-game scoring mark by tossing in 40 points on 11-of-16 shooting from the field with seven treys. She also nailed all 11 of her free throw attempts to surpass the previous scoring record of 34 points set by Monique Maher in 1995. March 10, vs. Northwest (WA) College
MVNC, the fifth seed, fell 85-67 to eight-seeded Northwest in the consolation bracket of the National Christian College Athletic Association National Tournament as the Lady Eagles shot 50 percent from the field and nailed 11-of-17 three-point attempts (64.7 percent). Anne Nussbaum led the Lady Cougars with 14 points and four assists, while Amie Bibby added 12 points and eight rebounds. MVNC, the second seed, claimed its third straight National Christian College Athletic Association East Region title as the Lady Cougars upset top-seeded Malone 64-62 in overtime in the championship game of the region tournament. The second-seeded Lady Cougars advanced to the championship game of the National Christian College Athletic Association East Region Tournament with a convincing 80-50 victory over third-seeded Roberts Wesleyan in the semifinals. MVNC forced 33 turnovers by the Lady Raiders, and the Lady Cougars also grabbed 21 offensive rebounds in the win. The fourth-seeded Lady Cougars used a strong second half to propel themselves to a 79-69 victory over fifth-seeded Tiffin in the quarterfinals of the American Mideast Conference Division II Tournament. Angie Trainer led the way with a game-high 25 points and a career-high 12 rebounds. Anne Nussbaum tied her career high with 23 points, while Shelly Aldrich finished with 11 points. MVNC wrapped up the regular season with an 80-50 rout of Point Park in an American Mideast Conference game. Shelly Aldrich paced the Lady Cougars with a game-high 16 points, six steals, and five assists. Despite a valiant effort, the Lady Cougars came up short as they dropped a hard-fought 69-58 decision at Rio Grande, ranked #17 in NAIA Division I, in American Mideast Conference action. Anne Nussbaum led MVNC with 14 points as she became the 11th Lady Cougar to score 1,000 career points and the third this season. February 12, at Urbana University
MVNC picked up an important American Mideast Conference road win as the Lady Cougars downed Urbana 70-64 in conference play. Deanna Kilpatrick led the way with a team-high 19 points, while Angie Trainer finished with 13 points and four steals. Amie Bibby and Anne Nussbaum each scored 11 points with Bibby grabbing a game-high 10 rebounds. The Lady Cougars set a school record by making all 18 of their free throws as MVNC cruised to an 84-55 American Mideast Conference victory over Walsh. Angie Trainer and Deanna Kilpatrick led the Lady Cougars with 18 points apiece, and Holly Riggle finished with 13 points off the bench. Despite a valiant comeback, MVNC fell 81-67 to defending NAIA Division II national champion Shawnee State in an American Mideast Conference contest. Trailing 69-45 with 5:34 left in the game, the Lady Cougars used a 20-5 run to pull within 74-65 with 1:44 remaining. However, the Lady Bears, ranked #3 in NAIA Division II, nailed 5-of-6 free throw attempts down the stretch to hold on for the win. The Lady Cougars dropped a hard-fought 56-53 decision at Walsh in American Mideast Conference action. After trailing for most of the game, MVNC took a 53-52 lead with 2:27 to play on a jumper by Amie Bibby. However, the Lady Cavaliers scored the final four points of the game for the victory. MVNC used great free throw shooting as the Lady Cougars pulled away for a 66-57 American Mideast Conference victory over Urbana. As a team, MVNC was 25-of-28 at the charity stripe (89.3 percent) for the game. Anne Nussbaum led the team with 18 points and was 9-of-12 from the free throw line. Angie Trainer added 15 points and a team-high seven rebounds while also making all 10 of her free throw attempts. The Lady Cougars were plagued by poor shooting as MVNC fell 71-49 to Ohio Dominican in American Mideast Conference action. MVNC connected on just 27.1 percent of its field goal attempts (13-of-48) and was 3-of-21 from three-point land (14.3 percent). The visiting Yellow Jackets used an overwhelming advantage at the free throw line (29 attempts to 13 attempts) to pull away at the end. In a battle between two undefeated teams, MVNC picked up a 59-46 non-conference victory at Kentucky Christian. The Lady Cougars held a slim 48-46 lead with 3:40 left before outscoring the Lady Knights 11-0 over the rest of the game for the win. Anne Nussbaum led the team with 15 points and eight steals, while Deanna Kilpatrick added 14 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Angie Trainer also tossed in 13 points and grabbed six rebounds. The Lady Cougars romped past Bethel 93-75 as MVNC claimed the 1999 Lady Cougar Tip-off Tournament championship. The team set a new school-record with 18 three-pointers that included an 11-for-19 performance (57.9 percent) from beyond the arc in the first half. Anne Nussbaum scored a career-high 23 points and tied another school record with seven three-pointers. Shelly Aldrich added 18 points and seven assists, while Angie Trainer tossed in 13 points.
