"Happy New Year" (posted on January 3, 2012)

Happy New Year everyone!!! We went on a fun little road trip to end 2011. We started by playing Cincinnati Clermont and then traveling to Chicago for two games on Thursday and Friday. The Clermont game wasn't a pretty win, but it was a win. Hey, we had just come back from a week of Christmas break what did you expect?!!

Once we finished that game, we went back on the bus and drove to Chicago. We had one day with no game so we hit downtown for some food at a restaurant called Ed Debevics. This place was unique because they were purposefully rude to you. They threw your menus and straws at you and yelled at you if you weren't doing what they wanted. We all loved it and tried to be rude back to them. Of course, they would come back with a comment and we would most likely stop talking to them. I guess were just too nice of girls! Then coach gave us a whopping hour to shop on Michigan Avenue. He just doesn't realize he's working with girls here and we need more time than that to get our shopping done!! Not to mention it took us 20 minutes to walk there and then 15 to walk back to the bus.

We played Trinity International University on Thursday and won that game, but the next day we ended up losing by one point to #6-ranked Concordia (Mich.) University. We were disappointed about the loss, but ready to get home. The bus ride seemed like it took 14 hours to get home, but I guess it only took nine. Lots of movies were being watched. We watched everything from Disney Mulan and Beauty and the Beast to Looney Tunes. Finally, with about an hour left, everyone was getting restless and wanted off the bus. So, we came up with a great idea to build a fort with all our blankets we brought on the trip with us! I must say it was a well-built fort and it took up about fifteen minutes of time. We spent other unique ways releasing the energy we had built up and before we knew it we were back to Mount Vernon. It was a great trip and we made wonderful memories. We are excited to see what 2012 brings to the season!! Hopefully a lot of wins!!
