Tara Seiter led the team with nine kills, three blocks, and eight digs in the final appearance of her stellar career, while Rachel Widener added five kills and 11 digs. Jessica Huffaker contributed four kills, and Deanna Stayman posted 10 digs. Mandy Hendrickx also handed out 13 assists in her final match.

November 20, vs. Siena Heights (MI) College
The Lady Cougars remained alive at the 1998 NAIA Great Lakes Region Tournament with a 15-10, 14-16, 15-12, 15-13 quarterfinal victory over Siena Heights. The loss by MVNC means that the Lady Cougars will share the 1998 conference title with Cedarville College and Walsh University. The Lady Cougars kept on rolling as MVNC downed Central State 15-5, 15-4, 15-4 in non-conference action. Darcee Hoberg and Scarlett Habrun led the team with seven and six kills respectively, while Deanna Stayman pounded four kills and served up a team-high three aces. October 31, KENYON COLLEGE
MVNC won its tenth straight game with a 15-7, 15-12, 15-11 non-conference victory over crosstown rival Kenyon. MVNC, who entered the match ranked #24 in the latest NAIA national poll, was led by Tara Seiter with 23 kills, six blocks, 12 digs, and three aces. The Lady Cougars remained undefeated as MVNC won its first-ever American Mideast Conference match 15-13, 15-3, 15-3 over Notre Dame. Tara Seiter compiled five kills and four blocks, while Scarlett Habrun added six kills and four blocks. Amanda Schumm also pounded six kills, and Mandy Hendrickx served up a team-high four aces.

September 8, INDIANA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY
MVNC won its ninth straight game as the Lady Cougars posted a 15-6, 17-15, 15-10 win over Indiana Wesleyan in non-conference action. The victory was Coach Paul Swanson's 450th win at MVNC. Tara Seiter smashed a season-high 17 kills and led the team with 10 blocks. Darcee Hoberg and Rachel Widener each recorded six kills, while Jessica Huffaker added five blocks and five kills. Amber Rice and Becky Jefferys also served up four aces apiece.

September 5, vs. Kenyon College
The Lady Cougars claimed the Kenyon College Invitational title for the fourth straight year as MVNC knocked off the host Ladies 15-3, 15-9, 9-15, 15-3 in the championship match. Tara Seiter pounded 15 kills and led the team with six blocks and 12 digs. She also became the first Lady Cougar to compile 2,000 career kills. Jessica Huffaker added nine kills, while Rachel Widener and Amber Rice posted six kills apiece. Amanda Schumm added five kills, and Darcee Hoberg recorded three kills and three blocks.

September 5, vs. Ohio Dominican College
MVNC remained undefeated and advanced to the championship match of the Kenyon College Invitational as the Lady Cougars defeated Ohio Dominican 15-6, 15-6, 11-15, 15-2. Darcee Hoberg led the team with a career-high 11 kills, while Tara Seiter added nine kills and seven blocks. Rachel Widener and Amanda Schumm each finished with five kills apiece, and Scarlett Habrun also contributed four kills and two blocks.

September 4, vs. Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (IN)
The Lady Cougars ran their winning streak to six straight matches as MVNC downed Rose-Hulman 15-2, 15-2, 15-9 in pool play at the Kenyon College Invitational. Darcee Hoberg smashed a team-high eight kills, and Jessica Huffaker added seven kills to pace the team. Tara Seiter also added six kills, while Amber Rice led the team with nine digs. Mandy Hendrickx led the team with two aces, and Scarlett Habrun contributed a team-high two blocks.

September 4, vs. Capital University
MVNC improved to 5-0 as the Lady Cougars defeated Capital 15-7, 15-3, 6-15, 15-10 in pool play at the Kenyon College Invitational. Tara Seiter led the way with team-highs of 13 kills and four blocks, while Rachel Widener pounded seven kills. Jessica Huffaker finished with six kills, and Amber Rice led the team with 11 digs and two aces.

September 2, at Wilmington College
The Lady Cougars remained unbeaten as MVNC swept Wilmington in non-conference action by the scores of 15-2, 15-9, 15-3. Deanna Stayman pounded six kills to lead the Lady Cougars, while Darcee Hoberg and Rachel Widener added four kills apiece. Jessica Huffaker and Amanda Schumm each served up a team-high two aces.

September 2, vs. Denison University
MVNC extended its winning streak to three straight with a 15-7, 15-4, 15-4 non-conference victory over Denison. Amber Rice led the team with seven kills, while Darcee Hoberg served up a team-high three aces. Jessica Huffaker and Tara Seiter added six and five kills respectively.

August 29, vs. Urbana University
The Lady Cougars made it two wins in a row as MVNC downed Urbana 15-3, 15-0, 15-3 in a non-conference match. Darcee Hoberg and Jessica Huffaker each pounded five kills, while Hoberg and Rachel Widener served up three and two aces respectively. Widener also finished with a team-high nine digs.

August 29, vs. Daemen (NY) College
MVNC successfully opened the 1998 season with a 15-6, 15-1, 15-6 non-conference victory over Daemen. The Lady Cougars were led by Tara Seiter, who smashed 15 kills. Amanda Schumm added six kills and three blocks in her first collegiate match, while Scarlett Habrun also contributed three blocks. Mandy Hendrickx served up a team-high two aces.
