"LADY COUGARS WIN ON THE ROAD"

The MVNC women's volleyball team continued its dominance of Urbana University as the Lady Cougars swept the Blue Knights 15-9, 15-12, 15-5 in a Mid-Ohio Conference match on Monday night.

MVNC (22-7, 10-1) is now 26-3 all-time versus Urbana (6-15, 1-9). With the victory, the Lady Cougars also remained one victory behind Walsh University (22-4, 9-0) in their quest for a third straight MOC title.

MVNC came out swinging in the first game as they smashed 16 kills on their way to a 15-9 victory. Tara Seiter led the way with five kills in the game.

In the second game, the Blue Knights took a 12-10 lead in a see-saw struggle. However, MVNC rallied to score the final five points of the game for a 15-12 win.

After coming so close in the second game, Urbana seemed to lose some of its fight as the Lady Cougars cruised to a 15-5 victory in the third game to finish off the match.

Seiter led the team with 12 kills, while Rachel Widener added nine kills to the winning effort. Courtny Testa recorded a team-high six blocks, and Seiter and Christa DeLorenzo recorded five and four blocks respectively.

"I thought that we executed well tonight, especially from a blocking standpoint," said MVNC head coach Paul Swanson. "Tammy Custer and Rachel Widener played excellent in the back row. I also thought that Becky Jefferys set a good match."

The Lady Cougars will return to action on Tuesday night as they travel to Canton for an MOC match against Malone College.
