"LADY COUGARS GET BACK ON TRACK"
After suffering their first three-match losing streak in nearly three years, the MVNC women's volleyball team returned to its winning ways as the Lady Cougars knocked off Shawnee State University 15-8, 15-3, 15-12 in Mid-Ohio Conference action on Monday.
MVNC (20-7, 8-1) was led by Tara Seiter, who hammered a team-high 16 kills. Jessica Huffaker, Christa DeLorenzo, and Tammy Custer each added seven kills in the victory over the Lady Bears (4-12, 0-11). Seiter and Courtny Testa finished with five blocks apiece, while Custer and Seiter each served up three aces.
"I thought that we executed well in the back row tonight," said MVNC head coach Paul Swanson. "By doing that, we were able to get in a good offensive flow. It was also nice for all of our players to get in on the action."
"Becky Jefferys did a good job setting this match," added Swanson. "It took her a couple of minutes to get comfortable in the first game, but from that point on she did a great job."
The Lady Cougars will return to action on Thursday as they travel to the University of Findlay for another MOC contest.
