"LADY COUGARS FALL ON THE ROAD AND FINISH SECOND IN MOC"

Going into their final regular-season Mid-Ohio Conference match at Cedarville College, the MVNC women's volleyball team needed a victory to tie Walsh University for a share of the 1996 conference title.

However, Cedarville (29-12, 12-6) played the role of spoiler as the Yellow Jackets knocked off the Lady Cougars 14-16, 15-13, 15-12, 15-9. With the loss, MVNC (34-11, 16-2) finishes as the conference runner-up while Walsh claims its first MOC title since winning three straight from 1988-1990.

"This is a very disappointing loss for us," said MVNC head coach Paul Swanson. "We had a chance to win a share of the conference title, and that was something that we had worked towards all season. We were outplayed and outperformed tonight."

Tara Seiter led the Lady Cougars with a career-high 28 kills, two shy of the MVNC match record. She also added six blocks and 18 digs. Christa DeLorenzo finished with 14 kills, while Courtny Testa had five blocks.

MVNC will return to action next Saturday, November 16, when the Lady Cougars travel to Ohio Dominican College for the MOC Tournament. MVNC will be the second seed in the six-team tournament, which they have won for the past two years. The winner of the tournament receives an automatic berth in the NAIA Great Lakes Regional Tournament at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
