Darcee Hoberg led the team with 15 kills and 15 digs, while Carrie McClelland added 12 kills and eight blocks. Scarlett Habrun finished with 12 kills, and Amanda Schumm posted 17 digs. September 2, vs. Goshen (IN) College
MVNC downed Goshen 15-5, 15-3, 14-16, 15-5 in the first of three matches at Judson (IN) College. Amanda Schumm paced the Lady Cougars with 14 kills, 10 digs, and three aces, while Carrie McClelland pounded nine kills and posted four blocks. Scarlett Habrun smashed eight kills, and Darcee Hoberg and Katie Zipf finished with seven kills each. Hoberg added 10 digs, while Zipf contributed four blocks. Amy Shearrow also served up three aces.
September 1, vs. Olivet (MI) College
The Lady Cougars swept Olivet in straight games in a non-conference match by the scores of 15-10, 15-8, 15-6. Mary Porter served for five straight aces in the third game as she tied the school record with a 2.50 ace per game average in the match. Scarlett Habrun and Darcee Hoberg each pounded a team-high six kills with Hoberg adding eight digs. Jessica Harding contributed five kills, and Carrie McClelland led the team with two blocks. Amy Shearrow compiled 20 assists in the final two games, while Andrea Rudd had 12 assists in the first game alone.
September 1, at Barat (IL) College
MVNC returned to its winning ways with a 15-5, 15-10, 15-7 non-conference victory over Barat. Jessica Harding and Amanda Schumm led the team with six kills apiece, while Chelsea Knight pounded five kills. Darcee Hoberg posted a team-high three blocks, and Jai Holland contributed a team-leading eight digs. Meanwhile, Andrea Rudd handed out 35 assists.
August 31, at Saint Xavier (IL) University
In a match that started out well, the Lady Cougars suffered their first loss of the season as MVNC fell to unbeaten Saint Xavier 8-15, 15-7, 15-11, 15-12. Darcee Hoberg led the team with 16 kills, 17 digs, and three blocks, while Amanda Schumm recorded 12 kills and 20 digs. Carrie McClelland finished with 10 kills and 14 digs, and Scarlett Habrun added nine kills and a team-high five blocks. Deanna Stayman posted 15 digs, and Andrea Rudd handed out 38 assists.
August 31, vs. University of Saint Francis (IL)
MVNC started the 2000 season off right as the Lady Cougars upset Saint Francis, ranked #21 in the NAIA preseason poll, 15-10, 15-2, 15-8 in a non-conference match that lasted just 64 minutes. Katie Zipf and Carrie McClelland led the team with eight kills apiece with Zipf adding a team-high two blocks. Amanda Schumm and Darcee Hoberg smashed seven kills each and contributed 14 and 12 digs respectively. Andrea Rudd also recorded 25 assists.
