So, this past week was a great week for
MVNU Volleyball. Coach Swanson recorded his
900th win as we
defeated Urbana in three games. In my
time here, I could not have asked for a
better coach. He deserves all the credit in
the world for what he has accomplished, and
I feel so honored to have been apart of his
success. CONGRATS COACH! We then had a game
against Daemen on Saturday in which we
won in a tough, well-played match. So
now Coach has 900 wins plus 1!

This week starts the introduction of our
two sophomores on the team. Megan Yoder is
an outside hitter and wears jersey number
15. On the court, Megan is a very silent
competitor. She doesn’t necessarily come off
as a threat on the court, however, no one
should be fooled. Megan has a lot of power
behind her hits. She has been struggling
with an IT band injury, but even through
that she still is a great competitor.
Off the court, Megan (below in
center) is the life of the team.
When she first arrived here at Mount Vernon,
she was very timid and quiet, but that was
just a cover. Everyday, she hands out laugh
after laugh with her random words and
quotable phrases. Megan is from good ol’
Amish Country in Berlin, Ohio where she not
only excelled in volleyball but basketball
as well. She is an early childhood education
major, which is ideal for her. Her
personality fits perfectly with that kind of
career. Megan is a character and I’m truly
blessed to witness her uniqueness on and off
the court.

This weekend we are hosting our
invitational tournament on Friday and
Saturday. We are up against some tough
competitors and like always we will
appreciate seeing your faces in the crowd.
Also on a little side note, my dad’s
birthday is Saturday so Happy Birthday, Dad!
