November 21, vs. Cedarville College
MVNC wrapped up its record-breaking season with a 3-2 victory over Cedarville in the third-place match at the 1998 National Christian College Athletic Association National Tournament. Josh Hess, Nels Radtke, and Chuck Wolf each scored a goal for MVNC as the team set a new school record with 94 total goals on the season. Senior goalkeeper Josh Bush also posted three saves in his final appearance.
November 19, vs. East Texas Baptist University
The Cougars fell 3-0 to top-seeded East Texas Baptist in the semifinals of the 1998 National Christian College Athletic Association National Tournament. The Tigers scored their goals in the 7th minute, the 84th minute, and the 89th minute. Goalkeeper Josh Bush posted four saves for MVNC.
November 18, vs. Lee (TN) University
MVNC successfully opened the 1998 National Christian College Athletic Association National Tournament with a 3-0 shutout of fifth-seeded Lee in the quarterfinals. Preston Elifritz scored two goals to lead the way for the Cougars, who are making their first-ever appearance in the national tournament. Josh Robson also added a goal, while goalkeeper Josh Bush recorded his 13th shutout of the season with five saves.
November 14, at Malone College
The Cougars earned their first-ever trip to the National Christian College Athletic Association National Tournament with a 2-1 victory over Malone in the championship match of the 1998 NCCAA East Region Tournament. Josh Robson scored both goals for MVNC to push his school-record total to 31.
November 12, NYACK (NY) COLLEGE
MVNC knocked off Nyack 1-0 in the semifinals of the 1998 National Christian College Athletic Association East Region Tournament. Josh Robson scored the Cougars' lone goal in the 30th minute off an assist from Preston Elifritz. MVNC goalie Josh Bush also posted his 12th shutout of the season.
November 6, vs. Geneva (PA) College
The Cougars dropped a hard-fought 1-0 decision to Geneva in the semifinals of the 1998 American Mideast Conference Tournament held at the University of Rio Grande. MVNC goalkeeper Josh Bush posted five saves.
November 3, at Ohio Dominican College
MVNC opened the 1998 American Mideast Conference Tournament with a 3-0 upset victory over third-seeded Ohio Dominican. The sixth-seeded Cougars got two goals and an assist from Josh Robson and a goal from Josh Hess. Goalkeeper Josh Bush posted his 11th shutout of the season and recorded six saves.
October 31, OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY-NEWARK
The Cougars closed out the regular season with a 15-0 triumph over Ohio State-Newark on Senior Day. Josh Robson led the MVNC attack with three goals and three assists, while Todd Pearce and Josh Hess added two goals apiece. Eight other players each scored one goal apiece - Ryan Stuart, Josh Bush, Brian Dean, Matt Salisbury, Chuck Wolf, Chris Eliopoulos, Chris Masone, and Chad Smith. Seniors Hess, Bush, Dean, and Stuart combined for five goals and four assists.
October 27, at Walsh University
MVNC was shutout for the second consecutive match as the Cougars fell 3-0 to Walsh in American Mideast Conference action. With the loss, MVNC finished in sixth place in the conference. The Cougars outshot the Cavaliers 13-9 overall and 7-5 on goal, but could not find the back of the net. Goalkeeper Josh Bush recorded two saves.
October 24, UNIVERSITY OF RIO GRANDE
The Cougars dropped a hard-fought 1-0 American Mideast Conference decision to Rio Grande, ranked #22 in the latest NAIA national poll and in first place in the AMC. Goalkeeper Josh Bush posted nine saves as the Cougars kept it close, but the team lost for the ninth straight time to the Redmen dating back to 1989.
October 20, at Cincinnati Bible College
MVNC set a new school mark for victories in a season (13) as the Cougars dominated Cincinnati Bible 9-0 in non-conference action for their season-high fourth straight win. Josh Robson scored two goals, while Preston Elifritz, Rick Collins, Chris Masone, Chad Smith, Kevin Iannetta, Ryan Stuart, and Matt Salisbury added a goal apiece. Todd Pearce broke his own single-season school mark for assists as he recorded two more to increase his total to 15. Robson also broke the single-season points record with 54.
October 17, at Caldwell (NJ) College
The Cougars tied the school record for wins in a season with 12 as MVNC downed Caldwell 4-1 in a non-conference match. Josh Robson and Todd Pearce scored two goals apiece, while Rick Collins recorded two assists. Robson now has 21 goals for the year, breaking the school single-season mark of 20 set last year by Scott Dapprich. The victory was also the 100th of head coach Paul Furey's career.
October 16, at Nyack (NY) College
For the second straight match, MVNC rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit to claim a 2-1 victory. With Nyack leading the non-conference match 1-0, Josh Robson equalized in the 55th minute off a through ball from Rick Collins. Josh Hess nailed the game-winner in the 82nd minute as he was assisted by Collins and Todd Pearce. Cougar goalie Josh Bush recorded three saves.
October 13, TIFFIN UNIVERSITY
The Cougars made it back-to-back seasons with double figures in wins for the first time in school history as MVNC edged Tiffin 2-1 in an American Mideast Conference match. After trailing 1-0 at the half, Josh Robson knotted the score at 1-1 with a goal in the 53rd minute off an assist from Matt Salisbury. Josh Hess scored the game-winning goal in the 65th minute, and the Cougar defense held tough the rest of the way.
October 10, OHIO DOMINICAN COLLEGE
MVNC fell 3-1 to conference-leading Ohio Dominican in an American Mideast Conference match as David Flavius, the reigning conference Player of the Year, recorded a hat trick for the Panthers. The Cougars avoided a shutout when an Ohio Dominican defender scored an own goal in the 86th minute. Josh Bush had six saves in goal for MVNC.
October 6, at St. Vincent (PA) College
The Cougars returned to their winning ways with a 5-0 shutout of St. Vincent in an American Mideast Conference match. It marked the team's school-record eighth shutout of the season. Preston Elifritz scored two goals, while Todd Pearce, Kevin Iannetta, and Ryan Stuart added one goal apiece. MVNC goalkeeper Josh Bush recorded two saves as he posted his eighth shutout of the year.
October 3, MALONE COLLEGE
MVNC dropped a hard-fought 3-1 decision in pouring rain to American Mideast Conference-leading Malone. The Pioneers scored first in the 7th minute, but Josh Robson took a pass from Preston Elifritz and headed it past the goalkeeper to knot the score at 1-1 seven seconds later. Malone added two second half goals to remain unbeaten in conference play. The Pioneers outshot the Cougars 16-7 for the match.
October 1, OHIO VALLEY (WV) COLLEGE
The Cougars recorded their seventh shutout of the season as MVNC posted a 9-0 non-conference victory over Ohio Valley. Josh Robson led the offensive attack by scoring three goals. Nels Radtke added his first two career goals, while Rick Collins, Todd Pearce, Matt Salisbury, and Kevin Iannetta each found the back of the net once. Josh Bush and David Brunk combined on the shutout in goal.
September 29, at Cedarville College
MVNC rebounded from its first conference loss to blank Cedarville 3-0 in American Mideast Conference action. Goalkeeper Josh Bush set new school records for shutouts in a season (6) and shutouts in a career (14). Josh Robson scored two goals for the Cougars, while Todd Pearce added a goal of his own. Bush and Rick Collins also contributed one assist each.
September 25, at Geneva (PA) College
The Cougars had their three-match winning streak snapped as MVNC dropped a hard-fought American Mideast Conference match to Geneva 2-1. Josh Robson gave the Cougars the lead in the 28th minute off an assist from Preston Elifritz. However, the Golden Tornadoes rallied for two second-half goals to claim the match. Goalkeeper Josh Bush recorded six saves for MVNC.
September 22, at Heidelberg College
MVNC recorded its third straight shutout as the Cougars blanked Heidelberg 2-0 in a non-conference match. Goalkeeper Josh Bush tied the single-season school mark with his fifth shutout as he recorded four saves. He also tied the career shutout mark as he recorded the 13th shutout of his career. Josh Robson scored both goals for MVNC as Matt Salisbury and Rick Collins each recorded an assist.
September 19, SHAWNEE STATE UNIVERSITY
The Cougars won their first-ever American Mideast Conference match in a big way as MVNC overwhelmed Shawnee State 11-0. Josh Robson scored a career-high four goals and added an assist to lead the team. Rick Collins, Todd Pearce, Josh Hess, Preston Elifritz, Chuck Wolf, Ryan Stuart, and Kevin Iannetta each added one goal to the winning effort. Pearce tied a school single-match record with four assists in the contest, while MVNC goalie Josh Bush earned his fourth shutout of the season.
September 15, CAPITAL UNIVERSITY
MVNC got back to its winning ways as the Cougars knocked off Capital 7-0 in non-conference action. Preston Elifritz scored two goals and added an assist, while Josh Robson finished with a goal and two assists. Chris Eliopoulos, Todd Pearce, Chuck Wolf, and Adam Casseday also scored one goal apiece. MVNC goalkeeper Josh Bush posted his third shutout of the season.
September 12, CUMBERLAND (KY) COLLEGE
The Cougars suffered their first loss of the season as MVNC fell 2-0 to Cumberland in the championship match of the 12th-annual Pizza Hut Cougar Invitational. The Cougars managed just three shots on goal in the contest. Todd Pearce was selected as the tournament's Most Valuable Offensive Player for the second straight year, while he was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Josh Robson and Josh Bush.
September 11, BAPTIST BIBLE (PA) COLLEGE
MVNC won its first round match in the 12th-annual Pizza Hut Cougar Invitational as the Cougars shut out Baptist Bible 4-0. Josh Robson, Ryan Stuart, Todd Pearce, and Preston Elifritz each scored one goal for MVNC, while Pearce finished with two assists. Rick Collins also added two assists, and Robson and Chris Eliopoulos finished with an assist apiece. Josh Bush recorded five saves as he posted his second straight shutout.
September 5, CORNERSTONE (MI) COLLEGE
The Cougars knocked off Cornerstone 4-0 in a non-conference match that was MVNC's 1998 home opener. Josh Robson scored two goals, while Chris Dean and Preston Elifritz added a goal apiece. Cougar goalkeeper Josh Bush posted his first shutout of the season as he recorded four saves. Junior Todd Pearce became MVNC's career assist leader with three in the match to give him 27 for his career. The previous record of 26 was set by Hiroto Matsufuji (1990-1993).
September 1, at St. Francis (IN) College
MVNC successfully opened the 1998 season with a 2-1 non-conference victory over St. Francis. After the host Cougars took the early 1-0 lead, Chris Dean knotted the score at 1-1 off an assist by Josh Robson in the 22nd minute. The two teams battled evenly until Todd Pearce nailed the game-winning goal in the 55th minute off assists by Ron Hayes and Chris Masone. Josh Bush recorded eight saves in goal as the visiting Cougars held on for the victory.
