October 28, UNIVERSITY OF RIO GRANDE
MVNU closed out the 2006 season with a hard-fought 1-0 loss to Rio Grande, which is ranked third in the latest NAIA national poll, in American Mideast Conference South Division action.  The Redmen out-shot the Cougars 16-7 with an 8-3 edge in shots on goal.  MVNU goalie Alex Stout helped keep the Cougars in the game with seven saves.  BOXSCORE


October 24, at Tiffin University
The Cougars fell 3-0 in an American Mideast Conference South Division match at Tiffin as MVNU was shut out for the seventh time this season.  The host Dragons out-shot the Cougars 20-7 with a 10-2 edge in shots on goal.  MVNU goalie Alex Stout posted seven saves in goal.  BOXSCORE


October 21, URBANA UNIVERSITY
MVNU snapped its three-match losing skid and remained in contention for a playoff berth with a 1-0 shutout of Urbana in American Mideast Conference South Division action.  Josh Van Pelt scored the only goal of the match in the 21st minute off an assist from Adam Worrall.  Meanwhile, Alex Stout made three saves in posting the team's third shutout of the year.  BOXSCORE


October 18, at Walsh University
The Cougars fell 2-0 at Walsh in American Mideast Conference South Division action as MVNU suffered its third straight loss.  The Cougars held a 6-4 edge in corner kicks, but the host Cavaliers out-shot MVNU 15-8 in the contest.  Alex Stout posted four saves in goal for the Cougars.  BOXSCORE


October 14, at Southeastern (FL) University
MVNU dropped a 2-1 non-conference decision at Southeastern.  Josh Van Pelt scored the lone goal for the Cougars on a penalty kick, while Alex Stout stopped two shots including a penalty kick to keep MVNU in the match.  The Cougars held an 11-10 edge in total shots and a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal.  BOXSCORE


October 12, vs. Lindsey Wilson (KY) College
The Cougars fell 3-0 to Lindsey Wilson, the defending NAIA national champions who are ranked third in the latest NAIA national poll, in a non-conference match played at Embry-Riddle (FL) University.  MVNU trailed just 1-0 until giving up two goals in the final 11 minutes of the match.  Two of the Lindsey Wilson goals came on penalty kicks.  Alex Stout posted five saves in goal for the Cougars, who did not have a shot on goal themselves.  BOXSCORE


October 7, SHAWNEE STATE UNIVERSITY
MVNU won its fourth straight match as the Cougars nipped Shawnee State 2-1 in American Mideast Conference South Division action.  Sheldon Tugman scored the game-winning goal with 2:22 left in the match off assists from Aaron Caluza and Josh Van Pelt, while Adam Pelak also scored for the Cougars.  Meanwhile, Alex Stout stopped one shot in goal.  BOXSCORE


September 30, CEDARVILLE UNIVERSITY
The Cougars notched their third straight victory with a 2-1 win over Cedarville in an American Mideast Conference South Division match.  Daniel Seiffert scored two goals for MVNU including the game-winner off a corner kick with 4:07 left in the match, while Scott Spangler registered an assist.  Meanwhile, Alex Stout posted four saves in goal.  BOXSCORE


September 26, at Malone College
MVNU made it two wins in a row as the Cougars held on for a 3-2 American Mideast Conference South Division victory at Malone.  Josh Van Pelt led MVNU with two goals, while Scott Spangler also scored for the Cougars.  Aaron Caluza and Matt Dennie were also each credited with an assist in the match.  Meanwhile, Nick Bias and Alex Stout combined to stop one shot in posting the victory.  BOXSCORE


September 21, SETON HILL (PA) UNIVERSITY
The Cougars snapped their two-match scoreless drought with a 3-0 non-conference victory over Seton Hill.  Adam Worrall had a goal and an assist, while Adam Pelak and Josh Van Pelt added a goal apiece.  Mike Pertz and Scott Spangler were each credited with an assist, and Nick Bias posted a shutout in goal as he notched four saves.  BOXSCORE


September 19, OHIO DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY
MVNU fell 3-0 to Ohio Dominican in the American Mideast Conference South Division opener for both teams as the Cougars were shut out for the fourth time in the past five matches.  Alex Stout and Nick Bias combined to stop three shots in goal, while MVNU was out-shot 16-4 in the match.  BOXSCORE


September 16, INDIANA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY
The Cougars dropped a hard-fought 1-0 decision in double overtime to Indiana Wesleyan in non-conference action.  Both teams had 13 shots in the match with the visiting Wildcats posting an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal, while MVNU had an 11-2 edge in corner kicks.  Alex Stout stopped seven shots in goal for the Cougars.  BOXSCORE


September 12, at Kenyon College
MVNU rallied for a 4-2 non-conference victory at Kenyon in the annual Knox County Shootout.  Adam Worrall, Jonathan Hoop, Sheldon Tugman, and Tyler Warwick each scored a goal for the Cougars, while Daniel Seiffert tallied two assists.  Josh Van Pelt and Alex Stout also recorded one assist apiece, and Stout notched nine saves in goal.  BOXSCORE


September 6, at Otterbein College
The Cougars were shut out for the second straight match as MVNU was blanked 2-0 in a non-conference match at undefeated Otterbein.  The Cougars out-shot Otterbein 15-10 and held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.  However, MVNU was unable to find the back of the net on any of its five shots on goal.  Alex Stout posted four saves in goal to keep the Cougars within striking range.  BOXSCORE


September 2, MID-CONTINENT (KY) UNIVERSITY
MVNU fell 1-0 to Mid-Continent, who is ranked 19th in the NAIA preseason poll, in the championship match of the First-Knox Cougar Invitational.  Mid-Continent out-shot the host Cougars 23-6, but MVNU goalkeeper Alex Stout posted five saves to keep the match close.  Stout was named the tournament's Most Valuable Defensive Player, while Adam Worrall and Mike Pertz joined him on the All-Tournament Team.  BOXSCORE    In the consolation match, Cornerstone (MI) University and Roberts Wesleyan (NY) College battled to a 1-1 double-overtime draw.  BOXSCORE


September 1, CORNERSTONE (MI) UNIVERSITY
MVNU rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the final 14 minutes of regulation and battled Cornerstone to a 2-2 double overtime draw in the first round of the First-Knox Cougar Invitational.  Then, in the first shootout in the tournament's 20-year history, the Cougars won 4-2 to advance to the championship match.  Adam Worrall and Aaron Caluza each scored in regulation for MVNU with Matt Dennie and Josh Van Pelt registering an assist apiece.  In the shootout, Worrall, Daniel Seiffert, Scott Spangler, and Van Pelt each scored and Alex Stout stopped two shots to move the Cougars into the title match.  Stout finished with seven saves in the match.  BOXSCORE    In the other first round match, 19th-ranked Mid-Continent (KY) University blanked Roberts Wesleyan (NY) College 2-0.  BOXSCORE


August 28, at Judson (IL) College
The Cougars took an early 1-0 lead, but MVNU eventually fell 3-1 at Judson, which was ranked 14th in the NAIA preseason poll, to finish second out of four teams at the Judson (IL) College Tournament in a match that had been postponed since Friday due to lightning.  Adam Worrall scored the Cougars' lone goal off an assist from Scott Spangler in the 18th minute.  In goal, Alex Stout stopped three shots, while Daniel Seiffert also cleared a shot off the goal line.  BOXSCORE


August 26, vs. Taylor (IN) University
MVNU successfully opened up the 2006 season with a 3-0 victory over Taylor at the Judson (IL) College Tournament.  Josh Van Pelt gave the Cougars the lead in the 38th minute on a penalty kick, and Jonathan Hoop scored two second-half goals within a span of 11 seconds just five minutes into the final period.  Adam Worrall and Scott Spangler were each credited with an assist, while Alex Stout recorded four saves and notched a shutout in his college debut in goal.  BOXSCORE
