URBANA, Ohio (3-28-2012) - The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's fastpitch softball team dropped both games of a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon at Urbana University by the scores of 9-0 and 5-1.

In the first game, MVNU (6-9) managed just two hits and only four base runners in the game, while the Blue Knights (8-13) pounded out 14 hits and scored in every inning except the bottom of the second inning in posting the 9-0 victory.

The Lady Cougars' only base runners in the game were a one-out walk to senior first baseman Jenn Gulley in the top of the second inning, a two-out single by senior outfielder MacKenzie Shaw in the top of the third inning, and a two-out double by junior pitcher Jill Wildermuth followed by sophomore infielder Kara Morrison being hit by a pitch in the top of the fifth inning.

In the second game, Urbana took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as the Blue Knights strung together three straight two-out hits.

The Lady Cougars trimmed the lead to 2-1 in the top of the third inning when sophomore outfielder Lindsey Minor doubled to left center and moved to third on a bunt by Morrison. After a walk to Shaw and a strikeout by junior infielder Brittney Kuhn, Minor came in to score on a wild pitch.

Urbana got the two runs back in the bottom of the third inning to go in front 4-1, and then the Blue Knights capped off the scoring with a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to make the final score 5-1.
