April 28, CASE WESTERN
RESERVE UNIVERSITY
The Lady Cougars rallied for a 5-1 win over
Case Western Reserve in the second game of a
non-conference doubleheader. Trailing
1-0 with two outs in the bottom of the sixth
inning, MVNU scored five times and went on
to win the game. Melody Blimline had
the big blow in the inning with a three-run
double, while Jennifer Meade had an
RBI-single and Staci Graham drew a
bases-loaded walk. Michelle Gastin
also had two hits in the game. On the
mound, Kylie Rupert (4-5) picked up the win
as she allowed just six hits, two walks, and
one run over seven innings with four
strikeouts. The victory was also the
400th win of head coach Jeana Howald's
career.

The Lady Cougars suffered another tough loss
as MVNU fell 5-2 to Shawnee State in the
second game of an American Mideast
Conference South Division doubleheader.
Kylie Rupert (3-5) took the loss on the
mound as she allowed eight hits, two walks,
and four runs in six-plus innings with five
strikeouts. Colleen Potter worked the
final inning and gave up two hits and one
run. Offensively, Lauretta Wallace
collected two of the Lady Cougars' six hits
and drove in one run, while Karly Clay drove
in the other run.

MVNU fell 6-3 to Shawnee State in the first
game of an American Mideast Conference South
Division twinbill as the Lady Cougars'
playoff hopes came to an end with the team's
sixth straight loss. Kristin Eyerman
(12-6) took the loss as she scattered nine
hits, one walk, and six runs over seven
innings with two strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Tasha Konkle and Melody Blimline
each had two hits, and Karly Clay and
Jennifer Meade both had a double.

The Lady Cougars suffered their fifth
straight loss as MVNU fell 5-4 at Rio Grande
in the second game of an American Mideast
Conference South Division doubleheader.
The Lady Cougars rallied from an early 3-0
deficit to knot the score at 3-3 only to
watch as the Redwomen moved back in front
for good. Tasha Konkle led the
offensive attack by going 3-for-4 and
stealing two bases, while Karly Clay and
Leslie Banichar each added two hits apiece.
On the mound, Kristin Eyerman (12-5) took
the loss in relief as she gave up six hits
and two runs (one earned) over the final
four innings. Colleen Potter started
and allowed three hits, one walk, and three
runs over the first two innings.

MVNU dropped its fourth straight game as Rio
Grande scored two runs on a two-out double
in the bottom of the seventh inning for a
4-3 victory in the first game of an American
Mideast Conference South Division twinbill.
Kristin Eyerman (12-4) took the loss despite
allowing just two hits, two walks, and four
runs (two earned) with five strikeouts over
6.2 innings.
She took a no-hitter into the seventh inning
and retired 17 straight batters at one
point. Laura Kot had three hits to
lead the Lady Cougars' offense, and Karly
Clay and Laura Morris each had an
RBI-double.

Leslie Banichar paced the 15-hit attack by
going 4-for-4 with two RBI and two stolen
bases, while Caitlin Murphy and Whitney
Clark added three hits apiece. Karly
Clay registered two hits, and Jennifer Meade
ripped a two-out double in the decisive
sixth inning to plate three runs. On
the mound, Kristin Eyerman (10-1) earned the

Michelle Gastin led MVNU by going 3-for-3

Kristin Eyerman (8-1) returned to the mound
just five days after being hit in the face
by a line drive and she led the Lady Cougars
to a 7-1 victory at Cedarville in the second

Division doubleheader. Eyerman allowed
just three hits, three walks, and one run
over six innings with four strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Laura Kot, Michelle Gastin, and
Karly Clay each had two hits, while Caitlin
Murphy hit a two-run home run.

in front of a standing room only crowd of
410 fans. Laura Kot, Karly Clay, and
Leslie Banichar each had three hits to pace
a 13-hit attack for MVNU with Clay driving
in three runs. Caitlin Murphy also had
two hits and drove in two runs.
Meanwhile, Colleen Potter (3-0) earned the
win as she scattered eight hits, four walks,
and four runs over six-plus innings.
Kylie Rupert earned her second save of the
season as she retired the final three
batters to close out the game as the Lady
Cougars extended their winning streak to 10

added two hits and three RBI. Chelsea
Kellerman also had two hits and scored three
times, and Melody Blimline drove in two runs
and scored three times. In addition,
Michelle Gastin hit her first career home

and no walks. Meanwhile, Laura Kot led

best spring trips in the program's history

scattered seven hits, two walks, and two
runs over five innings with four strikeouts.

Florida. Laura Kot went 3-for-3 to
lead the offense, while Michelle Gastin and
Leslie Banichar each had two hits with
Gastin's two-out two-run double knotting the score
in the bottom of the seventh inning.

victory on the mound as she scattered eight
hits, one walk, and five runs over eight
innings with five strikeouts.

one-run win. Kylie Rupert (1-1)

outs as she struck out one batter while
picking up her second save of the year.

The Lady Cougars took control of the game by

Michelle Gastin led the way by going

two-run homers to lead MVNU to a 4-0 victory
in the first game of a non-conference
doubleheader at Saint Vincent to open the
2007 season. Eyerman (1-0) allowed
just a lead-off double in the bottom of the
third inning and a walk to start the game in
the bottom of the first inning while
striking out five batters. Clay
finished with a double and a home run to
lead the offense, while Chelsea Kellerman
ripped a pair of doubles. Caitlin
Murphy and Laura Kot added a double and a
single apiece, and Tasha Konkle had one
double.
