Lady Cougar Softball Blog

Throughout the course of the 2012 season, MVNU
senior outfielder MacKenzie Shaw will write a weekly blog about what is
happening with the softball team. "Final
Homestand" (posted on April
24, 2012)
Hello again, Cougar
Nation!
Last week was a short, but
GREAT week for the Lady Cougar softball
team! We didn't play until Thursday this
week. Thursday afternoon we took on Grace
College. We came out strong for the first
game and won 3-2. Jill Wildermuth got the
win for us on the mound and Haley Lewis got
her first collegiate hit! We came out ready
to play in the second game against Grace. We
got another win over Grace 2-1, earning our
third conference win of the season! Ashley
Riffell picked up the win for us on the
mound, while Morgan Wade hit the winning
sacrifice fly in the eighth inning to end
the game!
Our final week of the
season will begin Tuesday as we take on Rio
Grande at home beginning at 3 p.m. Wednesday
will be the make-up day for our games that
we missed this weekend at home starting at 2
p.m. against Hunington. On Thursday, we take
on Notre Dame at home beginning at 3 p.m. as
well. Our final games of the season will
take place on Saturday as we play Marian
with a start time of 1 p.m. Senior day
ceremonies will take place between games on
Saturday.
Speak of seniors, let me
introduce you to my favorite class on the
team - I guess I am a little biased! (:

Jenn Gulley is a senior
exercise studies major from Lexington, Ohio.
Jenn started out at first this season, but
is now holding down centerfield for us. Her
biggest fear is not being successful and
bats. The song that best describes Jenn is
Live Your Life by T.I. and Rihanna. Jenn's
plans after graduation are to find a job
working with little kids!
Meagan
Stott is a psychology and sociology double
major from Geneva, Ohio. Meagan is a member
of our pitching staff. Meagan's biggest fear
is spiders! The song that best describe her
is Perceptions by The Beautiful Republic!
After graduation Meagan plans to work at a
church camp!
I am a senior outfielder
from good ol' Mount Vernon, Ohio majoring in
early childhood education. My biggest fears
are snakes and needles! The song that best
describes me is Stronger by Kelly Clarkson
because tough times in my life have only
made me stronger and made me want to fight
that much harder! After graduation, I hope
to find a teaching position and begin my
career as a teacher that changes lives.
