"Conference Action" (posted on April 17, 2012)

Hello again, Cougar Nation!

Well, another week of softball has come and gone. Our season is slowly coming to a finish. As a senior, this is a bittersweet moment for me. The real world is quickly approaching as Meagan, Jenn, and I are getting ready to close the softball chapter of our lives. This week we had four conference games. On Thursday, we hit the road for Spring Arbor. The bus ride seemed never-ending for us as we drove over four hours one way! Unfortunately, we lost both games against Spring Arbor.

Saturday seemed like a miserable day to play softball because of the rain, but we hit the field ready to take on Goshen. We played well the first game, but were unable to push enough runs across the board. The second game was much better as we won 3-2. Ashley Riffle picked up the win on the mound and we earned our first conference win of the year.

This week we have four more conference games. We take on Grace at home on Thursday beginning at 3:00. We take the field again on Saturday to take on Huntington starting at 1:00. We love to see our fans at our games and would love to have your support!

Let me introduce you to our two final juniors on the team this year:

Kayleigh Williams is a junior catcher from Utica, Ohio who is majoring in nursing. She is one of the toughest girls I know both on and off the field! Her biggest fear is alligators, which is funny because her dad and brother both went hunting for alligators while we were in Florida and both brought one home! The song that she chose to best describe her is American Honey by Lady Antebellum because she is an all-American country girl.

Kayleigh Williams Brittney Kuhn

Brittney Kuhn is our final junior from Mt. Gilead, Ohio who is majoring in nursing as well. She holds down second base for us. She told me her biggest fear is birds, which started out just as roosters but has branched into birds in general. The song that best describes her is Walk by Faith by Jeremy Camp because even through the struggles she seeks God in every situation.

Thanks for reading! Go Cougars!
