The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s fastpitch softball team continued its strong play to close out the season as the Lady Cougars advanced to the championship game of the NAIA Region IX Tournament on Friday before falling 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning to host and top seed Walsh University. In a season that has seen the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s fastpitch softball team on the short end of 10 one-run losses, it was only fitting that the Lady Cougars finally had the tide turn in their favor as MVNU posted a pair of one-run victories in the loser’s bracket of the NAIA Region IX Tournament on Thursday at Walsh University to extend their season at least one more day.
