For the second year in a row, the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s fastpitch softball team finished a game away from going to the NAIA National Tournament as the Lady Cougars posted a 22-17 record and finished as the American Mideast Conference Tournament runner-up during the 2009 campaign. For the second straight year, the Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s fastpitch softball team made the most of a berth in the playoffs as the Lady Cougars advanced all the way to the championship game of the American Mideast Conference Tournament before falling 4-2 to host and top seed Notre Dame College on Friday afternoon.
