9, vs. MidAmerica Nazarene (KS) University
The 15th-seeded Cougars, who were ranked
10th in the final NAIA Division II poll,
rallied from a 13-point deficit to knot the
score only to fall 75-73 on an offensive
rebound and putback with 0.6 seconds left by
second-seeded and second-ranked MidAmerica
Nazarene in the second round of the NAIA
Division II national tournament in Point
Lookout, Missouri. MVNU had one final
opportunity as Mark Hess lobbed a full-court
pass to Ryan Seesholtz, whose off-balance
three-point attempt glanced off the rim as
the buzzer sounded. Hess finished with
19 points and nine rebounds in the final
game of his career, while Dan Borcherdt
fired in 17 points. Dustin Ultican
contributed 12 points and six assists, and
Seesholtz just missed a double-double with
nine points and eight rebounds in his final
game. Steve Mayes also closed out his
career with six points, five rebounds, and
one block, while Andy Francis and Connor
Gregg registered six and four points
respectively.

8, vs. Dakota Wesleyan (SD) University
MVNU, the 15th seed who is ranked 10th in
the final NAIA Division II poll, rallied
from an 18-point second half deficit to post
a 73-72 victory over unseeded Dakota
Wesleyan, ranked 16th in the final poll, in
the first round of the NAIA Division II
national tournament in Point Lookout,
Missouri. Ryan Seesholtz hit one free
throw with 0.6 seconds left to give the
Cougars the win. Seesholtz finished
with 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead MVNU.
Dustin Ultican added a career-high 16 points
off the bench, and Dan Borcherdt tossed in
15 points. Ben Falkenberg also tossed
in 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting from
three-point range before breaking his hand
with 8:23 left in the first half. The
12 points gives Falkenberg the Cougars'
single-season scoring mark with 743 points.
Steve Mayes also broke his own single-season
blocked shot mark with four blocks to
increase his season total to 134.

February 24, at Notre Dame College
The second-seeded Cougars, who are ranked
10th in the final NAIA Division II poll,
dropped a tough 102-100 overtime decision on
a three-pointer at the buzzer at top-seeded
Notre Dame in the American Mideast
Conference Tournament semifinals in a game
that featured 17 lead changes and 12 ties.
Mark Hess led MVNU with 23 points and seven
rebounds, while Ben Falkenberg added 21
points and a game-high six assists.
Steve Mayes posted a double-double with 20
points and a game-high 11 rebounds, and Ryan
Seesholtz contributed 13 points and nine
rebounds. Dan Borcherdt also rounded
out the double figure scorers with 10
points, and the Cougars posted a 51-37
rebounding advantage.

February 21, SHAWNEE STATE UNIVERSITY
In a game that saw 13 ties and 13 lead
changes, second-seeded MVNU pulled out a
hard-fought 69-66 victory over third-seeded
Shawnee State in the first round of the
American Mideast Conference Tournament.
Ryan Seesholtz and Ben Falkenberg led the
Cougars, who are ranked 10th in the final
NAIA Division II poll, with 12 points apiece
as Seesholtz also grabbed five rebounds and
dished out four assists. Mark Hess and
Connor Gregg tossed in 11 points each with
Hess grabbing seven rebounds, and Steve
Mayes posted a double-double with 10 points
and 10 rebounds. Dan Borcherdt also
hit a pair of three-pointers.

17, OHIO DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY
The Cougars, who are ranked 12th in the
latest NAIA Division II poll, downed Ohio
Dominican 70-59 in American Mideast
Conference South Division action to claim a
share of the AMC South Division title with
Cedarville University and Walsh University
as all three schools finished with identical
15-3 conference marks. Ben Falkenberg
led MVNU with a game-high 22 points as he
nailed six three-pointers, while Mark Hess
posted a double-double with 11 points and 10
rebounds. Ryan Seesholtz and Dustin
Ultican tossed in nine points apiece with
Seesholtz grabbing eight rebounds, and Steve
Mayes contributed eight points, eight
rebounds, and six blocked shots. The
win gave the Cougars a perfect 9-0 home
record in conference play for the first time
ever as well as the best conference record
in school history.

MVNU, which is ranked 12th in the latest
NAIA Division II poll, rallied from a
10-point deficit for an 86-76 victory at
Wilberforce to keep the Cougars tied atop
the American Mideast Conference South
Division standings. Ben Falkenberg led
MVNU with 27 points, while Ryan Seesholtz
added 25 points, eight rebounds, and five
steals. Mark Hess finished with 14
points and eight rebounds, and Steve Mayes
contributed nine points, eight rebounds, and
five blocked shots. With the victory,
the Cougars set a new school record for most
conference wins in a season with 14.

at Shawnee State University
The Cougars, who are ranked 12th in the
latest NAIA Division II poll, dropped a
hard-fought 75-74 American Mideast
Conference South Division decision at
Shawnee State as the Bears hit a
three-pointer with six seconds left for the
winning margin. MVNU rallied from a
13-point second-half deficit to lead 72-67
with 2:15 to play before Shawnee State hit a
pair of three-pointers down the stretch to
lead to the victory. Ben Falkenberg
led the Cougars with 21 points, while Steve
Mayes added 17 points and four blocked
shots. Ryan Seesholtz finished with 10
points, and Mark Hess and Dan Borcherdt each contributed nine
points with Hess grabbing seven rebounds. The loss
drops MVNU into a tie for first place in the AMC South Division standings with Walsh
University and Cedarville University.

MVNU, which is ranked 12th in the latest

possession of first place in the American
Mideast Conference South Division standings
with a 62-57 victory over second-ranked
Walsh. Ben Falkenberg led the Cougars
with a game-high 19 points, while Steve
Mayes finished with 16 points, five
rebounds, and four blocked shots. Mark
Hess added 13 points and five rebounds, and
Ryan Seesholtz and Dan Borcherdt each scored
six points apiece with Seesholtz

UNIVERSITY OF RIO GRANDE
The Cougars, who are ranked 12th in the
latest NAIA Division II poll, moved back
into a tie for first place in the American
Mideast Conference South Division standings
with a 94-80 victory over Rio Grande.
Ben Falkenberg led all scorers with 33
points for MVNU, while Dan Borcherdt added
16 points as he went 14-for-16 at the free
throw line. Mark Hess posted a
double-double with 14 points and 11
rebounds, and Ryan Seesholtz contributed
nine points, eight rebounds, four assists,
and four steals. Connor Gregg also
tossed in eigh tpoints off the bench, while
Steve Mayes registered seven points, seven
blocked shots, and six rebounds. As a
team, the Cougars set a new single-game
school record with 14 blocked shots.

MVNU, which is ranked 11th in the latest
NAIA Division II poll, nailed 13
three-pointers and posted an important
American Mideast Conference South Division
victory at Malone 91-82. Ben
Falkenberg led five Cougars in double
figures with a game-high 26 points as he
nailed six treys. Dan Borcherdt
finished with 17 points and a career-high
seven assists, while Ryan Seesholtz tossed
in 16 points to go with eight rebounds and a
school record-tying eight steals. Mark
Hess posted 14 points and nine rebounds, and
Connor Gregg chipped in with 11 points off
the bench. With the win, MVNU has
clinched at least a berth in the AMC
Tournament.

The Cougars, who are ranked 11th in the
latest NAIA Division II poll, returned to
its winning ways with a 96-66 American
Mideast Conference South Division victory at
Urbana. Ben Falkenberg led MVNU with a
game-high 24 points as he went 6-for-6 from
three-point range, while Dan Borcherdt added
18 points. Connor Gregg posted a
double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds
off the bench, and Mark Hess and Dustin
Ultican finished with 13 and 12 points
respectively. Steve Mayes tallied
seven points, while Ryan Seesholtz
contributed six points, a career-high eight
assists, and 12 rebounds. The Cougars
shot 60.0 percent from the field for the
game.

MVNU, which is ranked 11th in the latest
NAIA Division II poll, had its 10-game
winning streak snapped as the Cougars fell
90-67 at 16th-ranked Cedarville in American
Mideast Conference South Division action. Ben Falkenberg led MVNU with 20 points, while
Ryan Seesholtz tossed in 18 points as he
nailed four three-pointers. Dan
Borcherdt also drained four treys to finish
with 13 points, and Steve Mayes grabbed a
team-high seven rebounds. The Cougars
shot just 41.7 percent from the field and
were out-rebounded 45-29.

January 20, WILBERFORCE UNIVERSITY
The Cougars, who are ranked 11th in the
latest NAIA Division II poll, extended their
winning streak to 10 straight games and
remained in a tie atop the American Mideast
Conference South Division standings with a
97-76 victory over Wilberforce. Ben
Falkenberg led MVNU with a career-high 43
points that included four three-pointers and
a school-record 19 free throws made in 22
attempts. He also dished out five
assists. Dan Borcherdt added a
career-high 22 points, while Steve Mayes
finished with a game-high 11 rebounds, eight
blocked shots, and six points. Ryan
Seesholtz contributed eight points, eight
rebounds, and five assists, and Mark Hess
registered seven points, six rebounds, and
five assists. Andy Francis also tossed
in seven points off the bench.

MVNU, which is ranked 16th in the latest
NAIA Division II poll, held off Rio Grande
96-85 in American Mideast Conference South
Division as the Cougars won their seventh
straight game and remained in a tie for
first place in the conference race.
Ben Falkenberg led all scorers with a
game-high 26 points, and he became the
fastest player in school history to reach
1,000 points in just his 53rd career game as
he is only the fourth sophomore to
accomplish the feat and the 30th MVNU player
overall. Mark Hess added a season-high
20 points, while Ryan Seesholtz finished
with 16 points, a career-high six assists,
and six rebounds. Steve Mayes also
posted his second straight double-double
with 12 points and a game-high 13 rebounds
to go with a career-high four assists and
nine blocked shots.

State, who received votes in the poll, 92-77
in a battle between two teams tied for first
place in the American Mideast Conference
South Division entering the game. Ben
Falkenberg led MVNU with a game-high 27
points and a career-high six assists, while
Dan Borcherdt added 20 points and handed out
five assists. Ryan Seesholtz finished
with 11 points, and Steve Mayes posted a
double-double with 10 points and 10
rebounds. Mark Hess also contributed
eight points and seven rebounds for the
Cougars, who have now won a season-high six
straight games.

MVNU, which moved up to 16th in the latest
NAIA Division II poll, knocked off
14th-ranked Cedarville 84-77 in American
Mideast Conference South Division action to
move into a tie with three other teams atop
the conference standings. Ben
Falkenberg led the Cougars to their fifth
straight win with a game-high 23 points and
a career-high five assists, while Dan
Borcherdt matched his career highs with 22
points and six rebounds. Ryan
Seesholtz added 14 points and six rebounds,
and Steve Mayes finished with a team-high 11
rebounds to go with six points.

December 29, vs. Hanover (IN) College
The Cougars, who are ranked 22nd in the
latest NAIA Division II poll, shot a
blistering 63.5 percent from the field and
went 15-for-22 from three-point range to
pull away from Hanover 121-83 at the Grand
Canyon Classic. Ben Falkenberg
continued to score at an amazing rate as he
tossed in 37 points on 13-of-18 shooting
from the field that included six
three-pointers. Dan Borcherdt added 20
points with six treys, while Mark Hess and
Dustin Ultican tossed in 10 points apiece.
Ryan Seesholtz contributed nine points and a
game-high nine rebounds, and Steve Mayes and
Evan Yates tallied eight points apiece.

December 28, vs. Biola (CA) University
MVNU, which is ranked 22nd in the latest
NAIA Division II poll, went 17-for-18 from
the free throw line over the final eight
minutes and got 17 points from Ben
Falkenberg during the same time frame as the
Cougars turned a 52-47 deficit into a 77-71
non-conference victory over Biola, which
received votes in the latest NAIA Division I
poll, at the Grand Canyon Classic.
Falkenberg finished with a career-high 39
points as he went 13-for-23 from the field
with six three-pointers and 7-for-7 at the
free throw line. Mark Hess added 10
points and seven rebounds, while Dan
Borcherdt finished with seven points.
Steve Mayes also blocked five shots, and
Evan Yates contributed six points and six
rebounds off the bench.

December 16, at Spalding (KY) University
The Cougars, who are ranked 22nd in the
latest NAIA Division II poll, used a 52-26
run to close the game as MVNU turned a 47-40
deficit just prior to the half into a
convincing 92-73 non-conference victory at
Spalding. Ben Falkenberg led all scorers with a
career-high 37 points that included nine
three-pointers with 25 points coming in the
first half to keep the Cougars in the game.
Mark Hess added 19 points and eight
rebounds, while Dustin Ultican, Dan
Borcherdt, and Steve Mayes tossed in eight
points apiece. MVNU shot a blistering
63.6 percent from the field and went
13-for-20 from three-point range.

MVNU, which is ranked 21st in the latest
NAIA Division II poll, held off Urbana 67-56
in American Mideast Conference South
Division action despite going 3-for-20 from
three-point range and not hitting a trey
until the 6:08 mark in the second half after
missing 16 straight attempts to start the
game. Ben Falkenberg led the Cougars
with 25 points, while Ryan Seesholtz added
11 points. Mark Hess finished with
eight points and nine rebounds, and Steve
Mayes contributed six points, eight blocked
shots, and a team-high 13 rebounds.
Connor Gregg also tossed in six points off
the bench, while Dan Borcherdt handed out a
team-high five assists.

The Cougars, who are ranked 21st in the
latest NAIA Division II poll, fell 86-74 at
Ashland, an NCAA Division II school, as the
Eagles used a 22-4 run at the end of the
first half as the difference in the
non-conference game.
Ben Falkenberg led MVNU with a game-high 26
points, while Ryan Seesholtz added 20 points
and five assists. Mark Hess finished
with 19 points and a team-high seven
rebounds, and Dan Borcherdt dished out a
career-high six assists. The Cougars
were out-rebounded 41-29.

MVNU, which is ranked 14th in the NAIA
Division II preseason poll, jumped out to a
27-4 start and cruised to a 90-59 American
Mideast Conference South Division victory at
Tiffin. Ben Falkenberg led the Cougars
with 23 points, while Dan Borcherdt added 17
points. Ryan Seesholtz and Mark Hess
also reached double figures with 14 and 10
points respectively with Seesholtz grabbing
a team-high six rebounds. MVNU shot
56.6 percent from the field (30-for-53) and
went 11-for-22 from three-point range.

November 28, at Walsh University
The Cougars, who are ranked 14th in the NAIA
Division II preseason poll, fell 79-55 in
American Mideast Conference South Division
action at Walsh, who is ranked seventh.
After leading 24-5 to start the game, MVNU
was out-scored 74-31 the rest of the way as
the Cougars had their school-record
nine-game conference winning streak that
dated back to last season snapped. Ben
Falkenberg and Mark Hess each scored 12
points to lead MVNU, while Connor Gregg
added nine points off the bench. The
Cougars shot just 37.9 percent from the
field and 23.8 percent from three-point
range.

November 21, MALONE COLLEGE
MVNU, which is ranked 14th in the NAIA Division II preseason poll, used a
strong first half and then held on for a 97-75 American Mideast
Conference South Division victory over Malone, which received votes in
the preseason poll. Ben Falkenberg led all scorers with 29 points
for the Cougars, while Dan Borcherdt tossed in a career-high 22 points
as the duo combined for 11 three-pointers. Andy Francis added a
career-high 12 points off the bench, and Connor Gregg grabbed nine
rebounds. Mark Hess also scored eight points off the bench.

November 18, vs. LaRoche (PA)
College
The Cougars, who are ranked 14th in the NAIA Division II preseason poll,
cruised to an 85-53 victory over LaRoche in the second round of the 13th
annual Food for the Hungry Holiday Invitational held at Kenyon College.
Ben Falkenberg, the tournament's Most Valuable Player, led MVNU with 18
points, while Dan Borcherdt tossed in 17 points with four assists.
Ryan Seesholtz added 13 points and became the 29th player in school
history to reach the 1,000-point mark. Connor Gregg contributed 12
points and a game-high nine rebounds as he and Seesholtz joined
Falkenberg on the All-Tournament Team, and Evan Yates grabbed eight
rebounds off the bench.

November 17, MYERS UNIVERSITY
MVNU, which is ranked 14th in the NAIA Division II preseason poll, used a
triple-double by Steve Mayes to down Myers 87-77 in the first round of
the 13th annual Food for the Hungry Holiday Invitational. Mayes
finished with 11 points, 12 rebounds, and a school-record 12 blocked
shots to post only the second triple-double in school history.
Former Cougar standout Adam Stevens had the other on December 5, 1998
vs. Olivet Nazarene (IL) University. Ben Falkenberg led MVNU with
a game-high 24 points, while Mark Hess added 17 points off the bench in
his first action of the year. Connor Gregg also posted a
double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, and Dan Borcherdt and Ryan
Seesholtz finished with nine points apiece and five and six assists
respectively.

November 14, at Cincinnati Christian
University
The Cougars, who are ranked 14th in the NAIA Division II preseason poll,
pulled away from Cincinnati Christian for a 90-63 non-conference road
win. Steve Mayes led MVNU with a game-high 21 points, a
career-high 15 rebounds, and eight blocked shots to just miss becoming
only the second player in school history to record a triple-double.
Ben Falkenberg added 19 points with five three-pointers and four
assists, and Ryan Seesholtz tossed in 15 points. Dan Borcherdt
also scored nine points with a trio of treys, while Andy Francis and
Evan Yates both contributed six points and five rebounds off the bench
with Francis dishing out a career-high four assists.

November 11, NOTRE DAME COLLEGE
MVNU, which is ranked 14th in the NAIA Division II preseason poll, cruised
to an 87-48 non-conference victory over Notre Dame in Saturday afternoon
Homecoming game. Ben Falkenberg led the Cougars with 17 points,
while Dustin Ultican tossed in a career-high 12 points. Ryan
Seesholtz added 11 points and eight rebounds, and Steve Mayes and Dan
Borcherdt each scored eight points with Mayes blocking three shots.
Evan Yates also grabbed a team-high nine rebounds to go with six points,
and all 11 MVNU players that dressed scored at least four points.

November 10, GRACE (IN) COLLEGE
For the first time in 24 years, the Cougars, who are ranked 14th in the
NAIA Division II preseason poll, fell in the Friday night
Homecoming game as MVNU lost 98-77 to unbeaten Grace. Dan Borcherdt led the Cougars with a career-high 21 points off the bench,
while Ben Falkenberg tossed in 20 points. Connor Gregg added 15
points and eight rebounds, and Steve Mayes blocked four shots and
grabbed six rebounds. MVNU shot just 37.1 percent from the field
and committed 23 turnovers while losing the rebounding battle 47-37.

November 7, at Ohio State
University-Marion
MVNU got the 2006-2007 season off and running with a 127-64 non-conference
win at Ohio State-Marion. The Cougars, who are ranked 14th in the
NAIA Division II preseason poll, shot 58.4 percent from the
field overall and nailed 16 three-pointers while also out-rebounding
Ohio State-Marion 51-26. Ben Falkenberg led all scorers with 29
points as he went 7-for-12 from the field and 11-for-11 at the free
throw line. Dan Borcherdt nailed six treys for 18 points off the
bench, and Connor Gregg posted a double-double with 17 points and 10
rebounds. Ryan Seesholtz added 16 points and nine rebounds, while
Josh Smith and Andy Francis tallied 11 and 10 points respectively.
Dustin Ultican also dished out 10 assists.
